All areas that hit one race hard....not because of their color but because of their actions.

It’s like... This is not a step to better things.... “We’re not going to address ‘the problem’, we’re just going to address the symptoms of the problem.”

The SJW’s will come up with a city ordinance, that if you want to operate an x store in N. Dallas, you must operate an x store in S. Dallas, or something like that. These ideas are not “organic”, but are instead coming from “Soros” like entities, and they are targeting big ‘D’ counties in Texas, first.

Any one w/ ANY idea how this is even LEGAL??

IIRC, even SCOTUS had (yet again) slapped Zero’s hand when he tried to pull the ‘prosecutorial discretion’ vs. illegals (or some such) and giving pretty much blank immunity.

And, where, exactly, is the (R)N(C) wing making this an issue? Let alone Trump’s DOJ to ensure Equal of and UNDER the Law??

I literally was in a car here in L.A. without ANY insurance NOR registration..

Many years ago, I knew a guy who had been a spook in Ethiopia monitoring Egyptian Air Force radio traffic in Yemen. Anyway, he brought back some Ethiopian license plates, put them on his VW bug and drove for years in California. The plates had no recognizable letters or numbers on them. Looked like chicken tracks. He figured cops thought they were diplomatic plates or some such and on the rare occasions he was stopped, he’d speak to the cop in Arabic (very rare language in those days) and they’d let him go on his way.

“theft of “””necessary”””” items” up to $750???

Translations let the criminals rule the streets. That DA should be fired immediately. What a dumb@ss!

If I had a grocery store, convenient store, etc..., then I would be looking to relocate.

The Governor should fire the D.A. @ss, and since he is clearly unfit for the job. Sounds like the DA wants chaos in his town and the criminals to rule the streets.

What a f*cking idiot!

“I literally was in a car here in L.A. without ANY insurance NOR registration..

..and my idiot ‘friend’ didnt tell me until he was pulled over. The LAPD literally made us wait and then told us/him NOT to park in the streets or he will be towed. I connected the dots and they figured he didnt have a criminal record so why make a stupid report?

After that, I stopped hanging out with him.”

Scary stuff. I stopped hanging with idiots like him in my 20’s. That kind of mental bs caused a lot of guys in the Navy/Marines and Army to get some undesirable discharges, which haunted them for the rest of their lives.

WHEN CAN I BE CHARGED WITH GRAND THEFT IN SAN MATEO OR SAN JOSE, California

Grand theft is the more serious version of the charge of petty theft, which is established in California Penal Code section 484. The elements a prosecutor must prove to convict of grand theft are:

(1) that you unlawfully took someone’s money or property and

(2) that the value of the property taken was more than $950.

You can also be charged with grand theft if you stole something (of any value) directly from another individual’s person, such as pick-pocketing. There are furthermore specific charges for certain types of stolen property, including grand theft auto and grand theft firearm.

There are many different ways to steal money or property and all of the methods of theft under the law can result in grand theft if the value exceeds $950. This includes theft by the following methods:

Larceny;
Embezzlement;
Trick;
False pretenses.

That’s a great point - though the risk may go the other way. Just saw a story where one of those drivers took a family to the airport, then robbed their empty home...

[Catalog showrooms such as Best Products and Service Merchandise were popular in the US during the 1980’s.]

That’s a walk down memory lane. I frequented both of these establishments at least a couple of times each. I enjoyed the experience. For some reason, they failed to make the cut, with Best Products folding in 1997, and Service Merchandise liquidating in 2002.

He really is an idiot. A few years ago, he came out and said, “We don’t have the resources to track down people who ignore jury summons, so nothing will happen if you do.” But, he had a brilliant idea! Free coffee and wifi would bring potential jurors pouring in!

To that it should be pointed out that the Uber app tracked him *back* to the house and that’s why they were arrested.

Sure, but it is still creepy anyway. I have no issue with the services provided here, just wouldn’t let some stranger know we were leaving an empty house for a while.

If the driver in question had simply notified someone else to do the robbery, he may have gotten away with it.

It’s no worse a threat than getting an airport shuttle or taking a conventional taxi. The latter has been a threat for two hundred years. Are you equally concerned about that?

As for the latter - if he had texted, the text message could have been available to law enforcement. Same thing if he had called using his phone.

Yes, I’m equally concerned about that.

If he used his phone to call an accomplice, why would the police have ever checked it? Wouldn’t they need a warrant for that?

All the catalog houses were either slow to adapt to the internet or outright refused - and now they’re dead or dying. Service Merchandise should have been almost as good a fit for the internet as Sears would have been with competent management. Indeed, Service Merchandise did go on the internet early - but their implementation was crap and they had issues with merchandise selection and the quality of what they were offering. One person I knew at the time commented that their tech and electronics offerings in 2000 appeared to have been selected by some not-genre-savvy 70 year old. The rest of their inventory often showed the same signs.

Amusingly, recently Service Merchandise was revived as a web-only store by the son of the original SM founders. They focus strictly on jewelry and accessories, something that doesn’t require their corporate buying staff to be up to the second in-depth knowledgeable about tech.

Because “Taxi driver and accomplice burgle homes of travelers” is a headline that goes back to the 1800s and the police know that this was a common thing. They would ask nicely then get a warrant if they had to (translation: Driver said no.).

Also, in certain cases, the driver for Uber or Lyft already agreed to surrender call and text histories to the company or to law enforcement in the event of an accident or criminal investigation related to the company. So no warrant may be required.
