I see the point, I see the point, that we will go around in circles on this issue. On the one hand marijuana is illegal under federal law, but on the other hand, many states have legalized marijuana use either for medical reasons or just plain recreational use. How does that reconcile? If nothing else it keeps attorneys busy.
I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that the founders of this country would have been appalled at the idea of a Drug Enforcement Agency.
Let the states decide.
My extra weight, those who smoke and DWIs will cost the taxpayers a lot more than a marijuana smoker likely will.
And like folks tell me about NY, if your state passes it and you don’t like it, move.
I’m getting very close to packing up and moving to PA

______
Which position has the Constitution on its side, in your opinion?
Marijuana is like same-sex marriage. Once states start legalizing it, a domino effect begins.
Basically, the Feds have decided to ignore their own laws. They need to legalize it and let the states/communities decide as they do with alcohol.
When they legalized Marijuana in washington state, my daughter (who lives there) said that the next day a lot of employers did a random drug testing sweep, after an evening of proponents of the measure “celebrating” its success.
You know how hard it is to fire bad employees these days? Well, a lot of ‘em tested positive for Marijuana, which is still federally illegal, and they were promptly and completely legitimately fired.
It was a huge house cleaning opportunity for a lot of employers.
How does it reconcile? By making sure that each State has one legal position with regard to marijuana use. No more legal tension between the State law and the federal law.
The laws concerning marijuana use in other States are irrelevant.
You can’t impose a law on people that the majority don’t support. I may personally think it’s a bad idea but clearly the citizens are voting to decriminalize. That makes his position simply rational.
It’s a nightmare. It’s happening...may as well regulate and tax. In Needles, CA which is shaping up to be the POT CAPITAL of California, companies have to pay everything to the City in Cash. Hundreds of thousands of dollars. The tiny city had to lease a Brinks car.
