Cuellar: Border wall construction in Starr County cut from 8 to 4 miles
Brownsville Herald ^ | 10 April 2019 | LORENZO ZAZUETA-CASTRO

U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-Laredo, announced Wednesday that the U.S. Army Corps. of Engineers would only be constructing four of the eight miles originally slated for Starr County, according to a news release... The change of order from eight miles to four miles would make it so construction would bypass La Grulla and Roma entirely.

This is because of restrictions that Henry Cuellar inserted into the 2019 Appropriation.

Maybe not as bad as AOC chasing Amazon jobs out of her district, but Congressman Cuellar ensured the Drug Cartels will stay in his.

Walls with holes in them are not as good as solid ones.

This is fencing approved in the omnibus bill. The extra 4 miles could likely be completed with the state of emergency funds.

Should be fun to watch the illegals funnel though the protected stretch. He may end getting hung.

“This is a big win for the Rio Grande Valley. I worked hard to include language through the appropriations process that would protect communities from an ineffective and divisive border wall. This change order reduces the number of miles from eight to four in Starr County,” Cuellar said in the release."

“The extra 4 miles could likely be completed with the state of emergency funds.”

They could be, but I’d guess they will just be bypassed for now.

If president Trump is reelected with a Republican House and Senate, I’d expect these holes to be filled. By then, more traffic will be flowing through those gaps, as the rest of the wall gets built, so maybe they might feel differently.

On a happier note, maybe this means that they are about to award the contract for the four miles that they are going to build.

A caller to Rush today had a fantastic idea:

In the guise of replacing the San Diego walls, tear them down, then claim a bureaucratic snafu and fail to replace them....absolutely flooding California with all the immigrants until Pelosi/Gov cry uncle.
"Walls work, build the wall now "...she will say.

The Republicans in House and Senate have already
shown their colors on this matter. Look for no
help there.

I doubt pelosi would ever cry uncle. she’s close to dead and could not care less about anyone but herself and maybe a few others as long as her property is secure and the only illegals on it are workers of hers.

I agree. The GOP had the presidency, the Senate, and the House for two golden years (2017 and 2018). If nothing much was done about the illegals then, why should we expect anything different in the future?

Illegals with kids know that they will get released into our homeland. Until that changes, barriers are not enough.

Those folks see the illegals as eventual Democrat votes. Nothing more, and nothing less. So as long as there are gated communities in CA, they will not cry uncle.

And the increased burden on public services? Just raise taxes until the whole state collapses. But that’s about 30 years away. So why worry about it now?

nom problem cal voters keep voting for higher taxes. We pay 21 bill a year on services to illegals.

I am not believing this. The Brownsville Herald is sistered with El Nuevo Heraldo and gets its newsfeed from the liberal liar media.

I would think POTUS’s national emergency declaration and related orders override any narrative the Democrats spin. The emergency provisions of the 2019 appropriation are superseding any other provisions.

This is likely just Cuellar blathering Bull Schiff to make his Narco Masters think he’s doing something to defy Trump.
