Eric Swalwell Pushes Licensing, Insurance Requirements for Gun Owners
Breitbart.com ^ | April 9, 2019 | Awr Hawkins

During his April 9, 2019, town hall in Florida, 2020 presidential hopeful Eric Swalwell (D-CA) said that he thinks licensing and insurance requirements for gun owners are worthy pursuits. Swalwell said, “I think most gun owners who are responsible want to see more licensing, and standards, and background checks. So I do support having higher standards. I also don’t think it’s unreasonable to look at, especially if you accumulate some of the most dangerous weapons, having insurance requirements as well.”

Swalwell also reiterated his push to ban “assault weapons” and use a mandatory buyback to take them from their current owners. He said, “Keep your pistols, keep your rifles, keep your shotguns, but we can ban and buy back the 15 million ‘assault weapons’ in our country.”

When an audience member asked about creating a national database on gun owners, Swalwell responded, “I just don’t buy that there’s going to be any national round-up of guns. No one is saying, ‘Round up the guns.'” He said fear of a government-sponsored firearm round-up is “illogical.”

...especially if you accumulate some of the most dangerous weapons,...

I am the most dangerous weapon. Anything I 'accumulate' is just a tool.

We could vote California out of the US, it already is a Mexican colony in many ways.

Next time we have a dem congress and president, you can bet we stand a chance to lose 2A rights. I hope and suspect Trump will give us conservative judges for quite some time.

Reminds me of two Bumper Stickers that were popular when I was a Kid.

First Registration, then Confiscation.

The only good Commie is a dead Commie.

If you had the second one on your Car nowadays, every Democrat that saw it would think you were talking about them.

There is so much stupid coming from Swalwell just in the excerpt.

‘Eric Swalwell (D-CA) said that he thinks licensing and insurance requirements for gun owners are worthy pursuits.’
—> No, they are not. It’s a play to erode my 2A rights. Lawful gun owners are not the problem, and making it harder to lawfully own a gun isn’t the solution.

‘Swalwell said, “I think most gun owners who are responsible want to see more licensing, and standards, and background checks.’
—> Who cares what you think. I think my constitutional rights are quite clear you socialist dick.

‘So I do support having higher standards. I also don’t think it’s unreasonable to look at, especially if you accumulate some of the most dangerous weapons, having insurance requirements as well.”
—> All firearms are dangerous. Hell, my kids BB gun is dangerous. It’s irrational and stupid to put special regulations on certain weapons.

Swalwell also reiterated his push to ban “assault weapons” and use a mandatory buyback to take them from their current owners. He said, “Keep your pistols, keep your rifles, keep your shotguns, but we can ban and buy back the 15 million ‘assault weapons’ in our country.”
—> STOP this buyback nonsense. YOU didn’t sell it to me, you don’t own it, you never will. FMCDH.

When an audience member asked about creating a national database on gun owners, Swalwell responded, “I just don’t buy that there’s going to be any national round-up of guns. No one is saying, ‘Round up the guns.’” He said fear of a government-sponsored firearm round-up is “illogical.”
—> LIAR or even more stupid than he appears. The Left would prefer that we have no way of ever defending ourselves. NO THANK YOU.

I think now is the time for the NRA and GOA to merge into one gun-rights group, and go on offense.

They need to be out there cutting commercials of gang bangers in Compton killing each other with illegal Mac-10s, Tec-9s, and Uzis and getting off with light prison sentences when caught.

They need to reach out to more women and get them training on gun ownership and usage.

They need to start locally and pressure state legislatures into passing Constitutional carry laws.

What Rep. Swalwell is simply doing is trying to move the Overton window on guns for the Dems. There's no way he's going to win the nomination, but his running will allow a fake moderate Dem (Like Buttplug) adapt his ideas and present them as "mainstream."

Considering the societal damage that a-holes like him do on a regular basis, perhaps requiring liability insurance and licensing of politicians is in order.

I doubt that this guy even knows what “insurance” is.

Insurance companies create policies which relieve their customers of the risk of suffering large financial loss unexpectedly. The vast majority of gun owners see little prospect of suffering a financial loss due to gun ownership and would have no interest in such a product. As a result, insurance companies would not be successful selling such policies and that is why such policies are not common.

What this guy really intends is a government mandate for innocent gun owners to pay for the damage caused by criminals with guns.

A similar proposal would be to require car owners to pay for the damage caused by bank robbers who use cars to escape the scene of their crimes. It is utter nonsense.
