Judge blocks Trump's wait-in-Mexico asylum policy
The Washington Times ^ | Monday, April 8, 2019 | Stephen Dinan

A federal judge ordered the Trump administration to stop its new policy of sending asylum-seekers who jumped the border back to Mexico to wait while their cases proceed, ruling Monday that the plan was likely illegal... Judge Richard Seeborg, an Obama appointee to the bench, said... Mexico is so dangerous that making asylum-seekers wait there — even if they’re not from Mexico — is untenable.

Did this judge get their degree from Howard School of Law? I bet they are pure affirmative-action. What an over-reaching, misguided, political tool. Ignore this BS.

Mr President, just say no. How long are you going to let policy be dictated by the lowest ranking federal judges? Tell them to mind their own business and you will mind yours.

“A judge has no authority to rule on actions taken under declarations of emergency.”

That is DOJ’s announced position as well.

Let’s see if Democrats are clueless enough to try to impeach the President for trying to secure the border, going into the election.

That is the kind of fight you want to have - it is about the best issue for Republicans. Better than two to one support strong borders.

“The request might be filed while they are still in Mexico.”

The big problem now is that the illegals trying to sneak in between ports of entry, are being trained to request asylum if they are caught. Then they get a court date a couple of years off in the future, and are released into the US (most never show up in court).

Asking for asylum (and lying about “credible fear” with the right buzzwords) is like using the magic words “Open Sesame”, to get into the USA.

The Wait in Mexico policy was a pilot program, to give court dates to people captured trying to enter illegally, who then claimed asylum - but then put them back into Mexico to wait for that court appearance, rather than release them into the USA.

Asylum is not like a visa program that people apply for at embassies and consulates around the world. It is only supposed to cover rare hardship cases of people fleeing systematic oppression, who set foot on US territory.

I cant believe this thread isn’t 1000 posts at least yet. I also cant believe there hasn’t been a White House comment on the topic. I heard on the radio the judges order would not go into effect until Friday. Guess Mejico isn’t that dangerous until the weekend rolls around.
