Over the last week, Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the Legislature picked the pockets of city and state taxpayers with a spending plan that takes and takes, then takes some more.
They did it quietly, like assassins, with only peeps of protest. Disagreements over which taxes to raise were settled by raising them all. Such is life in a one-party town.
As a result, New York is taking a giant leap toward the promised land of democratic socialism. The cost of living here already is soaring and Albany responded by injecting a huge dose of high-octane fuel. Expect a crash landing.
The pain comes in the form of new, renewed or hiked levies on Manhattan-bound motorists, real estate, income, pharmaceuticals, paper bags and rental cars. And thats just for starters.
The pols also put in motion a plan to spend $100 million for public financing of their campaigns, then celebrated by giving themselves huge pay hikes.
Hooray for us!

2019 Florida State Budget - $91.0 Billion
2019 New York State Budget - $175..5 Billion
I remember back in the day, New York would always say that they higher budgets because they had more land; so more highways, more state workers...yada, yada, yada...
Today, they can't tell you the real reason...it's illegal aliens and a corrupt government! The clock is ticking on New York State.
Maybe they can borrow some money from Puerto Rico.
There aren’t many illegal aliens in New York - the cost of living is much too high for them.
If you idiots in NY only voted for MORE Democrap, life would be so much better for you. I mean look at Detroit and Chicago.
Staten Island here.
Let it explode.
They voted 100 million in campaign funds?!?! lol
and raises.
I’m ready to skip to PA already.
Because they only thing the other boroughs can harm us just happened. Increased taxes.
Wife wants to stay till her mother drops.
then we’re gone
Nope....they’re there. I see them in restaurants, grocery stores and moving snow, when I visit.
Where will you be headed, FRiend?
Texas isn’t too bad ;-)
They can’t afford to drive to the homeless shelters. That’s bad.
I don’t see any correlation at all between the cost of living in NYC and the people that live there; between 400,000 and 600,000 people live in NYCHA housing alone. There are less than 550,000 people in the whole state of Wyoming.
Northeastern NJ has tons of illegals - along with property taxes that are among the highest in the nation. These people are living here on other peoples’ dimes.
PA Can’t take the heat and no an air conditioner is not good enough :)
unless i can live inside one :)
Both NY and NJ wanted to draw Puerto Ricans after the hurricane there - eligible for all the free sh!t, and they can VOTE. They were better “replacement Americans” than the Third Worlders we’re getting now (legal or illegal).
If all the Puerto Ricans move to New York, then who will be left to run the government Ponzi Scheme in Puerto Rico?
“If you idiots in NY only voted for MORE Democrap”
I live in Florida
I don’t know, but NY and FL alone have more then 2 million Puerto Ricans - and there are less than 4 million on the island itself.
I grew up in NY. Left in the early aughts. Was veering left then. It’s become a mini Venezuela now. I pity my relatives still stuck behind.
Let me know when you move. I’ll take you to the range, my treat.

Fly past PA and come to Texas. From someone who knows and has done that.
Oh, “Free” is too high?
New Yorkers need to start buying yellow vests.
