The Never-Ending Threat of Civil War
American Thinker ^ | April 6, 2019 | E.M. Cadwaladr

We and the Left are now two nations within one country. This is undeniable. We are now so different that we cannot even agree on what a country is, or on the merits of a country having a border. The number of people who still say, "I just don't care about politics" dwindles. It is still possible to hate both sides — but it is getting hard to be indifferent and still be breathing. How many people can just take or leave infanticide? How many people are entirely flexible about the idea of the government having authority over anything and everything, to experimenting with our fundamental demographics, or to giving up fossil fuels cold turkey? The abyss looms large beneath us.

We conservatives have let this ideological cancer metastasize for far too long for its excision to be simple or painless. For too long, we have been patient with outrages we should have fought to reverse. We have let our opponents secede incrementally from us for decades. We have been tolerant and patient...we have given up our civil society, our political representation, and our freedoms one by one. Our maladies won't be fixed by delicate adjustments now...Either the cancer wins, and kills us all, or we defeat it — and we accept the scars. Let us not pretend they would not be hideous scars. And let us not pretend it would not be a deeply barbarous and bitter surgery.

The titanic nations of the Left and right are rising en masse — flexing their muscles and snorting menacingly at one another. We cannot get out of their way. There is no safe part of the country, nor any genuinely safe haven left in any other country. This is a global conflict. We have run out of frontiers.

Seems like a natural internal conflict for most lefties...to be for gun control on one hand and arm up on the other.

There is no conflict at all. They want weapons for themselves (or their trusted minions) but none for their opponents.

That makes it so much easier to kill their opponents when they become too inconvenient to have around.

Just imagine, 3% is all it takes and someone to lead.
If 3% didn't pay their taxes the system would collapse.

Actually, it takes four generations, thus the 80-year cycle. 80 years ago the depression & WWII, 80 years prior to that our civil war and 80 years prior to that the revolutionary war (not exactly 80, but close). Our country was settled initially by Anglos. The 80-year cycle is repeated there before they arrived here also.

Here is a link to a review of a book a friend of mine wrote several years ago. The book is an incredible read and very prophetic! It is well researched. If you can’t read the book, read the review.

As the person with the primary duty for protecting and defending the Republic, the Duty falls to President Trump

He cannot and I believe will not allow the concept of sanctuaries to prevail.

Two points come to mind, that seem to be new additions to this discussion.

First, it was stated that America is not mentioned in the Biblical prophecies of the end time. That may not be the case if the New Jerusalem is meant to refer to a place in the United States. Mormons and some evangelicals believe this to be the case.

The second point follows that. One potential resolution of what seems to be an inevitable slide into conflict would be the end times, not an avoidance of the conflict but a context and to any believer an indication of the outcome.

I think this is how the impasse will end, and it could be at any time since interpretation of times and places is such a complex and nebulous thing that nobody could be sure that we had not already passed certain milestones — and certainly the times resemble the prophesied last days, right down to the detail that families would be torn apart by differing beliefs.

The process that I would expect as resolution would be a consolidation of Kingdom power in some part of the United States as its initial base and a spreading out from there to include all who would be saved. There might be some time given for those who had bought into false paradigms and unworkable ideologies to discard them in favor of allegiance to the Kingdom.

I see a lot of the progressive left as being deluded individuals who have some desire to do good but no idea how human nature actually works, then combined with the overhyped fears of climate catastrophe, increasingly convinced that they must act to tear down what we see as personal freedom and replace it with a sort of new medievalism where everyone’s life is confined to a few miles and total service to the local power base.

Of course, since human nature is operational in this, the more worldly leftists also imagine that if large numbers obey this ideological command, it won’t hurt the environment if they themselves are mobile, in other words, have the freedoms that they propose to take from us.

This will be the perfect mirror image of Soviet communism in that millions will empower the system by voluntarily living in poverty (or dying in labor camps if they dissent) while a small elite live high off the hog since they control everything and nobody can prevent it. The workers are then indoctrinated to believe that the elites are just taking a bit of time to refresh themselves to complete Lenin’s tasks.

We need Jesus down here to sort this out, would you not agree? It strikes me that Trump is an excellent front man for the end times. At least with him you’ve got somebody who is going to recognize the necessity and advantages of full co-operation while with any given Democrat or RINO I suspect they would want to offer resistance and might even frame it as a constitutional duty (ironic since the nation was founded on the premise that blessings of personal liberty would be enhanced by faith in God).

As to when this might be, I perceive it could be about equally any year from now to about 2030, but possibly more likely before 2025 than after 2025.

For example Kansas, Nebraska and Oklahoma WILL NOT BE RWANDA. LOL.

I am not laughing, and you might want to recheck those assumptions.

In particular, Kansas City will see some vicious ethnic cleansing in both Kansas and Missouri sections. Oklahoma has some forgotten history of extreme race war that can be revived with horrifying speed.

Nebraska may have regular occurrences of illegitimate checkpoints along the Western end of I-80/I-76 and persistent eruptions of roadside banditry.

Troubles will be frequent but highly localized. If you are thirty miles away from the latest "blast zone", life will go on almost like normal - for the new values of "normal",

O BS those STATES are 70-80% right wing and the govs will get those cities under control ASAP. The lefties will then be given a choice, get drafted and fight for team red state or exile.

“There will be entire sections of the country that will faction off and be entirely stable.”

Just like eastern Europe in the Cold War, right? The big totalitarian neighbor to the east was happy to leave Hungary and Czechoslovakia alone and “entirely stable.”

Marxists and communists don’t stand still. That’s how we find ourselves in the dilemma we are in today. We let them capture all the institutions and then increasing swaths of the government. When they have their own USSA, do you really believe they will leave other parts of the country alone? That is not how they operate.

<>they’d throw away the best Revolution in the history of the World<>

And among the few that didn’t turn inward and destroy the revolutionaries. Our destiny turned on George Washington as Cincinnatus instead of Cromwell.

“life will go on almost like normal”

Try to watch the TV Series “Jericho.” It is a post-apocalyptic action-drama TV series which centers on the residents of the fictional city of Jericho, Kansas, in the aftermath of a limited nuclear attack on 23 major cities in the contiguous United States. It ran on CBS from September 20, 2006, to March 25, 2008.

It was very well done. Life afterwards was anything “like normal.” IMO, it wouldn’t require anything like 23 simultaneous nuclear blasts on US cities to cause complete societal breakdown. Given the social structure breakdown and uncertain supply chains, towns quickly began distrusting neighboring towns.

Checkpoints? Okay.

I prefer the first COS recommends nothing. I hope the delegates can’t pass a majority vote to pass anything on to the states, not even repeal of the 17A.

Should this happen, then the people of Flatland will understand a third dimension, that they can conduct a COS that didn’t “runaway.” Once the rational majority of Americans understand they can do an end run around the entire Washington DC complex and restore free government, then we can make substantive changes.

None one of you posting to this thread make sense. You are claiming "what if a civil war", right? Every region will be DIFFERENT. Some will secede the USA others will not. The coasts are going to go leftist the center will go right.

Man, the analysis here is so juvenile as to be funny.

The big question are nukes and the Navy. As far as nukes go I do not see them as a viable weapon in a civil war. The Navy is the crucial question. Will the center Navy( will they have a Navy?) be able to blockade the coasts and starve the blue coast cities?

Try to watch the TV Series “Jericho.”

Try living and working in Europe circa 1994 during the unpleasantness in Serbia-Bosnia-Croatia.

You could be in a café in a pleasant small town enjoying lunch while two hours away, people were dodging snipers in bombed out subdivisions while getting out to the market to buy supplies in a city surrounded by hostile military forces and riven by ethnic gangs. This wasn't a television series.

It made quite an impression on me.

People in this thread think that it would out in bang.

That is about as far from the truth as you are going to find.

As soon as the EBT cards run out, there will be a slaughter in the city. They will kill each other and then die out because they will not be able to negotiate with the people outside the cities for food and medicine.

The regions will then just fade away. Those able to keep the lights on will be OK.

The US would go nova, a bright flash of savagery—then a slow fade back to the “mean” of the world.

California, Oregon, and Washington can easily feed themselves...as long as the conservative farmers don’t flee. The new Hispanic land owners would get the farms, ranches, and orchards and have the same Hispanic field hands. Keeping the farm machinery in good repair could be a challenge after a few years.

The whole thing would Balkanize in about a week.

There are different shades of Blue and Red.

You guys thinking any of this will be national are insane. Look at the idiot sniping about CW 1.

Wars are won on logistics, not tactics. Without a national command, stuff is not going to move. The local power is not going to give power to anyone else.

You think Detroit and Chicago are going to get along? You imagine Boston and New York agreeing on anything?

The people here think there are enough people to “fight.” We cannot even get people to vote.

This is one of those internet forum circle jerk threads.

None, if any of this stuff is going to happen. I would argue people, in general, are just not that pissed off.
