The Never-Ending Threat of Civil War
American Thinker ^ | April 6, 2019 | E.M. Cadwaladr

Posted on 04/06/2019 3:18:34 PM PDT by ProtectOurFreedom

We and the Left are now two nations within one country. This is undeniable. We are now so different that we cannot even agree on what a country is, or on the merits of a country having a border. The number of people who still say, "I just don't care about politics" dwindles. It is still possible to hate both sides — but it is getting hard to be indifferent and still be breathing. How many people can just take or leave infanticide? How many people are entirely flexible about the idea of the government having authority over anything and everything, to experimenting with our fundamental demographics, or to giving up fossil fuels cold turkey? The abyss looms large beneath us.

We conservatives have let this ideological cancer metastasize for far too long for its excision to be simple or painless. For too long, we have been patient with outrages we should have fought to reverse. We have let our opponents secede incrementally from us for decades. We have been tolerant and patient...we have given up our civil society, our political representation, and our freedoms one by one. Our maladies won't be fixed by delicate adjustments now...Either the cancer wins, and kills us all, or we defeat it — and we accept the scars. Let us not pretend they would not be hideous scars. And let us not pretend it would not be a deeply barbarous and bitter surgery.

The titanic nations of the Left and right are rising en masse — flexing their muscles and snorting menacingly at one another. We cannot get out of their way. There is no safe part of the country, nor any genuinely safe haven left in any other country. This is a global conflict. We have run out of frontiers.

I can hope. I can pray. I can live my life to that end. I do want our country to be just, godly, liberty based, prosperous, ....

I can be an army of one to that end. I suspect that there are 100 million just like me. 50 million, 25 million How many righteous did Abraham bargain for with Sodom and Gomorrah? I expect we will be judged.

That scenario isnt possible, unless you believe that 38 state legislatures would ratify any constitutionally destructive proposals put forth by the left

"Isn't possible".... you truly and grossly underestimate the stupidity and evil and greed of our politicians.

Let's list the "usual suspects"... HI, CA, OR, WA, VT, NH, ME, MA, RI, CT, NY, NJ, DE, MD, CO, NV, IL, MN, NM, WI.... add in odd duck AZ lately... there's 21 of 38 already.

And with those 21 being psychotically Leftist anyway, exactly which proposals that we would want will ever get passed with only 29 likely to be on board?

Remember in V for Vendetta. The troops stop when the leadership is eliminated.

ROFLMBO!!!!!

Are you freaking serious? Do you think I will stop just because Trump is gone? Do you think peppers and survivalists will stop just because communications are knocked out? Their side is no different. You need to stop taking Hollywood movies as military strategy guides.

I think that if their leadership is hit hard, and I don’t mean just the figureheads, that it will take them apart.

Build more prisons.

And gibbets. Don't forget gibbets. They're not just for Thanksgiving.

That scenario isnt possible...

I would say that is a very optimistic viewpoint. The limits of possibility are usually outside of what we think they may be.

What is most likely, IMO, is that the COS will be hijacked by "Progressive" delegates and propose a totally unacceptable collection of amendments in a series of "compromises" with the nominal Conservatives.

Of course those amendments won't be ratified by 38+ States. But there will be plenty of kicking and screaming as the results get presented. And at least 14 States will ratify all of the most extreme Leftist proposals. That will keep supporters energized and outraged sufficiently to assist in what will come later.

What will come later is a perfect storm of Democrat President and effective Democrat control of Congress (both House and Senate). There will be a rapid passage of new laws to "crack down on Domestic Extremists and Terrorists". Almost all of the Leftist measures proposed in the failed COS will be incorporated in the new laws - and the Constitution be damned.

Then the Government will attempt to enforce the new laws. At this point, please refer back to all those energized and outraged supporters of the rejected Leftist proposals from the previous COS. They will still be hanging around cheering and assisting with implementation of the "New Era". This will be a problem.

We are not helping ourselves much by counting on a Convention of States to fix the Constitution. Other activities will be required first.

The left knows what a country is, they know how to destroy a race, they know how to destroy a generation of children, they ar not ignorant they are full of malice and they intend to destroy us. That is what they are doing and they know it well. They want our blood and will not be satisfied with anything less.

Secession IMHO will not work. Before the ink is dry on any agreement they will begin sedition and subversion of the new free states. To think otherwise is to reject history. There will be no running away, no moving to the suburbs so to speak. The commies won’t allow anyone to be free.

I would disagree that the American civil war was not a civil war. It just so happened that there was a geographical separation. There were huge differences in the “folkways” of the people in each region. While there was a geographic separation, remember there were people on both sides that did not want a fight. Our friendly tyrant Lincoln setteled that little question, though. The previous all out conflict (our revolution - about 80 years prior) did not have the geographical separation to the same extent but clearly not everyone wanted a fight. Finally, our current era (about 80 years from the last major catastrophic event and about 160 years from the prior event - our civil war,j is set to have a catsrophic outcome just like the last three events which were about 80 years apart (about a human life span). It will not a turn out well.

New York Times, Jan 19, 1988...
At Stanford University, they still talk of the day nearly a year ago when some 500 students, on a march with the Rev. Jesse Jackson, came up with a slogan for the next generation.

The students were celebrating a new course at Stanford, one that would stress the contributions of minorities and women to Western culture, and, they chanted:

''Hey hey, ho ho, Western culture's got to go.''

Responding to charges that the core reading list reflects what some have referred to as a ''European-Western and male bias'' and what others call ''sexist and racist stereotypes,'' the Stanford University faculty seems likely to approve a measure that would eliminate the Western culture course that is required of all freshmen. The course, which has been offered since 1980, is based on a list of 15 acknowledged masterpieces of philosophy and literature.

In its place would be a new yearlong requirement called ''culture, ideas, and values'' that would include the study of at least one non-Western culture and ''works by women, minorities and persons of color.''

The turmoil over the curriculum, with its overtones of 1960's protest, promises to reawaken a longstanding debate in American education. Some argue that by ignoring classics of Western culture, universities risk leaving students ignorant of the works of genius that lie at the heart of their own civilization. Others have said that Western culture is too restrictive a concept to be adequate in an ever more diverse world, and that students should be grounded, not just in the West, but also in a global culture.

The anti-Western rhetoric at Stanford comes just as conservative voices - such as those of Prof. Allan Bloom in his best-selling ''The Closing of the American Mind'' and William J. Bennett, the Secretary of Education -have contended that the failure of students to know the great works of the West's past has left them impoverished.

Most of us paying attention back then probably thought to ourselves "...this is a bunch of student liberal kooks like at Berkeley, this is a passing fad, they'll come to their senses and this will blow over." Little did we realize that thirty years later it would bring us to the serious possibility of civil war.

Little did we know that "universities risk leaving students ignorant of the works of genius that lie at the heart of their own civilization" was the central core of their diabolical plan to bring down Western Civilization and replace it with...WHAT?

I understand however we are not in a civil war of arms nor do I think it would come to that for reasons spoken prior. Do you really think the young adults into their 30’s would even think about defending what they can’t even define? When you speak of “we” I’m not convinced that would include anyone under 40.

The progressive, socialist Democrat Party (and I mean every damn one of them) is an infection in our country. Their disease spreads like wildfire. They leave California and move to Texas because they don’t like the laws, taxes and social environment. Then what do they do? Spread the same infection they created in California. Texas is just an example, it’s happening all over the country. Every Freeper should read Kurt Schlicters “People’s Republic” and “Indian Country”. It will wake you up to what’s coming.

I agree that Windflier is more optimistic than me.

The founding era, 1760 to December 1791*, might be a once-in-human-history event where men threw off the millennia old tyrannical divine right of kings and decided to govern themselves. Democrats disparage the founding, are ignorant of how tyrannical and power-mad men are, and are rushing headlong into totalitarianism, despotism, and dictatorship from which there will be no way out. We paying a dear price for letting leftists take over education in the 20th century.

If we collapse into some sort of open rebellion, our international enemies will most assuredly take advantage of our collapse. If the Democrats think the Russians meddled in the 2016 election, they haven’t seen anything compared to what is coming.

*On December 15, 1791, Virginia became the 10th of 14 states to approve 10 of the 12 amendments, thus giving the Bill of Rights the two-thirds majority of state ratification necessary to make it legal.
