We and the Left are now two nations within one country. This is undeniable. We are now so different that we cannot even agree on what a country is, or on the merits of a country having a border. The number of people who still say, "I just don't care about politics" dwindles. It is still possible to hate both sides — but it is getting hard to be indifferent and still be breathing. How many people can just take or leave infanticide? How many people are entirely flexible about the idea of the government having authority over anything and everything, to experimenting with our fundamental demographics, or to giving up fossil fuels cold turkey? The abyss looms large beneath us.
We conservatives have let this ideological cancer metastasize for far too long for its excision to be simple or painless. For too long, we have been patient with outrages we should have fought to reverse. We have let our opponents secede incrementally from us for decades. We have been tolerant and patient...we have given up our civil society, our political representation, and our freedoms one by one. Our maladies won't be fixed by delicate adjustments now...Either the cancer wins, and kills us all, or we defeat it — and we accept the scars. Let us not pretend they would not be hideous scars. And let us not pretend it would not be a deeply barbarous and bitter surgery.
The titanic nations of the Left and right are rising en masse — flexing their muscles and snorting menacingly at one another. We cannot get out of their way. There is no safe part of the country, nor any genuinely safe haven left in any other country. This is a global conflict. We have run out of frontiers.

A little bit of my naivete fell away after talking to some liberals, looking for common ground in the Constitution. To them, the Constitution is an irrelevant document, of no use in modern times. We have NOTHING in common with leftist bastards.

On the upside, just was contacted by a colleague, a leftist, who was a graduate of a high profile university in the news a lot lately for its horrific racism, and PC attacks.
Says that the memories of our conversations has caused a desire to continue them now that the person has walked away from leftism.
Yes, that's easy to predict. We will just keep watching TV (and sending money to our enemies) until they show up to kill us (although they won't really need to).

More likely such a convention will be instantly co-opted by the Leftists, with an extremely predictable and unfavorable result.
That scenario isnt possible, unless you believe that 38 state legislatures would ratify any constitutionally destructive proposals put forth by the left in such a convention. As bad as things are, America hasn't gone that far left.

I think of Europe after WWI and WWII. I suspect we will become Chinese territory, or Mexican. We will be hollowed out.

Further, even if we win, America will not be "restored". A big part of the reason that we quickly inherited the globe in the 20th Century was because WWII stripped the world of virtually all manufacturing, except for ours. After CWII, we will be stripped of our infrastructure and wealth and position and power, and the rest of the world will be in the catbird seat... China, Russia, and Iran will be calling much more of the shots, globally... and that's assuming that nobody will take advantage of our intense struggle to come in and ravage the remnants and take what they can.

Atlanta. Charlotte. Jacksonville. Birmingham. Any major urban area. These are also transportation and communication hubs.
I'm from Jacksonville. I've lived in Atlanta - twice. I currently live in Charlotte. They belong with us. Its true there's been an influx of left leaning Yankees in Atlanta and Charlotte in particular but they're not enough to go their own way. Jacksonville is in Duval County....in fact the city incorporates the whole county. That county goes Republican every time. Yes there are certainly part that are left leaning but the city inclusive of all its suburbs is right leaning and always has been.
You have a point, Probably 15 or 16 for I am sure that DC and Puerto Rico will have their votes
