Go to prison because your company gets hacked?
So now we get to go to prison for things we tried to control but crooks (hackers) got away with it anyway.
Make up millions of FAKE accounts like wells fargo did - prison.
Going to prison for something you tried to prevent but couldn’t. That’s absurd.
They are going SO FAR LEFT it’s out of my field of vision.
Typical liberal logic.
Youre right. Hackers should be getting increased sentences, not CEOs.
Forget hacking, they at least try to prevent it but the fraud that Wells Fargo did was intentional. Wells Fargo was the first company I thought of and jail time for the perps would be justice.
Yeah, good luck trying to prove a modern corp CEO hasn’t done what should be done on cyber. They’ve got the board, their insurers and massive consulting firms all breathing down their necks to invest more and more in the area.
Better to go after our own guv that forced the backdoors, developed a lot of the hacking tools, did a lot of the hacking, back a lot of the hacking companies, etc., etc., if you want accountability.
Personally, I would like to see some specific individual accountability for these data breeches. I want the persons most directly responsible to be held accountable.
Remember the huge OPM data breech a few years ago? The Director resigned after a lot of pressure. That's it. Very typical. Knee jerk. How about going after the system administrator types in IT that sat there and some how didn't notice the downloading of TENS OF MILLIONS of security clearance files for current and former members of the Federal government (along with cleared contractors) by the Chinese? (There may have been - and probably were - punitive internal personnel actions. But they were under reported (if they even occurred).)
That's right. Go after the truly negligent. In the case of data breeches, let the folks in IT face the music. Management may share some responsibility if problems have been previously been reported and management did not pay attention to them. But put the IT department in the direct line of fire for punishment, and whole new levels of enthusiasm for data security will emerge.
Ditto for hardware and software providers supplying defective products. (If it can be breached/hacked, it's defective.) Let the programmers and engineers sweat over the security of their products, too.
Warren has taken a page out of the Chinese Communist and old Soviet Union playbooks. Of course, under Stalin and Mao, when the person in charge failed to meet projections (so-called Five Year Plans/Great Leap Forward) many were jailed and some were executed. I imagine the execution part of the law will come only after she is elected and the Socialists are fully in charge.
Wasnt the dnc hacked? Should she go to jail?
