Most of the so-called “blue states” have moved so far left that it’s essentially impossible for the GOP candidate to peel them off no matter who the Dems run.. They can run the kookiest left-wing nut they can dig up in 2020, and they’re still winning CA, OR, WA, NY, MA, CT, MD, etc.

I respectfully disagree. Sure, there won’t be any 49-state landslides. But who would have thought a republican would ever win Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, or Michigan again? Trump is a different kind of Republican. And with his record to run on, and some hardcore leftist as his opponent, he could potentially win close to 40 States.
Why, the Democrats could run a child molester for president in 2020 and still win CA, OR, WA, NY, MA, CT, MD and DC. Oh, wait. They just about are.
