President Trump on Tuesday incorrectly said his father was from Germany while expressing frustration about the countrys payments toward NATO.
"Germany, honestly, is not paying their fair share," Trump said at the White House before noting that he has "great respect" for German Chancellor Angela Merkel and "great respect for the country."
"My father is German, was German," he continued. "Born in a very wonderful place in Germany, so I have a great feeling for Germany."
The Washington Post said it as least the third time Trump has made this particular claim about his father, Fred Trump, who was born in New York City in 1905.
Trumps grandfather, Friedrich Trump, was born in Germany and emigrated to the U.S. in 1885, according to a report from the Post in 2016.
After finding success in the U.S., Friedrich Trump attempted to resettle in Germany, according to The Associated Press. But the Post added that he was expelled in 1905, apparently for emigrating illegally. He returned with his wife to the U.S. when she was pregnant with Fred Trump.
Trump made the claims about his father multiple times in 2018 while discussing relations between the U.S. and European countries.
"Dont forget both of my parents were born in EU sectors, OK?" Trump said in an interview last July. "My mother was Scotland. My father was Germany."
Trump's mother, Mary Anne MacLeod, was born in Scotland.
The Post noted that Trump also mentioned his father being from Germany while attending the NATO summit in Brussels.
"I have great respect for Germany; my father is from Germany," Trump said. "Both of my parents are from the EU, despite the fact they dont treat us well on trade."
[Oh my God! This is almost as bad as his having two scoops of ice cream with his pie! Hes doomed.]
That’s very true. Smells of Russian -——> COLLUSION!!!
Really, they did a nice job of hiding the bolts and the toupee on the dude on the left really hides the flat head.
Is that West Side Tuna Story?
Nope.,...think it may be “Cat Side Story”
It’s Cat-tastic!
Funny you mentioned this, I recalled President Trump made a remark about Obama’s birth or the certificate about a few months back. I think something is brewing behind the curtain and it will be YUGE! As we all should know President Trump does not make an error in statement. If he did, there was always due to a reason or meaning to his “mistake” which were intentional.
Kind of tough to impeach President Trump when Barak Obama and Nancy Pelosi are in line ahead of him.
And it would be a nice set up to have the press run wild with stories of Trump family birth credentials as a set up. They just cant help themselves
He was born in the good ol’ 57 States USA. /s
It’s not like he stole someone else’s speech and claimed his parents were coal miners when they were nothing of the sort ala Biden.
Firing squad at dawn....................
Aha russian collusion. You finally proved it.
I spent a few day in Bad Dürkheim, in September 1974. I was in the army stationed at Mannheim Germany in the Sandhofen Barracks.
It wad during the beerfest. Me and my buddy would walk down the rows and rows of tables, and one of us would tap someone on the shoulder and ask a question, while the other took their stein of beer. We got wasted without spending a dime.
Wow, that was so many years ago. I have many memories of those days.
Well they said Hillary was winning too.......as well as other knuckle headed calls. So consider the source.
#3. They would have preferred to has written about Trump’s father, aborted in Germany, but it was not to be.
Well consider..was Trump grand father a US citizen when Trump father was born?
Does this come close to Obama saying the US has 57 states?
Gosh - it must be true that trump is a pathological liar....
Oh when will they ever learn, oh when will they ever learn? (Where have all the flowers gone)
