What about Maoris? Maoris are a warlike people & don’t reject the use of guns. In fact, they regard weapons as essential to protecting their families and culture.
NZ police will tread very lightly when telling Maori that they must give up their guns.
What a silly man. No one asked for criminals to give up their guns, just law-abiding citizens!
She thought the jizya was gonna be the answer to all her problems...
They have to get rid of the guns before all the corrupt US Politicians go to hide there.
I suspect quite a few firearm owners won’t.
“I guess New Zealand is some weird sort of democratic-dictatorship with the PM can just tell people what the new laws are without any debate or actual passage of new laws, not to mention anything constraining her like a Constitution or Bill of Rights. “
It’s almost as if she was waiting for just such an incident to pounce. The woman is the head Kommissar of NZ.
Send in those unarmed police to get those illegal guns. When my wife was staying with her sister in Australia an intruder tried to get into the house. An emergency call produced 20 minutes later two twenty something female constables who were unarmed. Fortunately the intruder was just drunk. My wife, quite the liberal was appalled and felt very unsafe. Her leftist loon sister applauded that even the cops don’t have guns in Australia.
Those who beat their swords into plowshares will plow for those who don’t.

Hard to believe. ;-)
They’re only now (as in today) announcing the proposed law. Doesn’t seem *quite* as bad as Australia, in that it appears to allow an exemption for “bona fide” collectors and museums...though whether they will actually allow people to have collectors licenses is probably another matter.
We’re witnessing firsthand why the Founders gave us such a ponderous and inefficent legislative process...and thank God they did.
