You no longer have to have done something for them to hate you, but you now have to agree with them 100% on all things or you too will feel the hate.
Well, that very neatly sums it up. Recently I had lunch with a fellow who I hadn’t seen for a while… in a past life, we had both worked for the same company but because we are sort of still in the same field, today he is sometimes a supplier and sometimes a customer. At the end of lunch, he raised the topic of politics and when I hesitated (for about 1/10 of a millisecond) to agree with him on something negative that he said about PDJT, I could see the hair rising on his neck. At that point he essentially said “you better tell me right now that you aren’t a supporter of Trump or we won’t ever be speaking again.” I couldn’t stop laughing as I said “Listen… you should know better than drop that kind of ultimatum on anyone, especially me but I can tell you that I need that kind of preconditions to a business or friendship relationship like I need another hole in my head….. so goodbye and good riddance.”… and without another word, walked out of the restaurant.
It shouldn’t be that hard to get along with folks who one disagrees with but obviously, that’s not always possible because some of these folks have truly let TDS sink in so deep, it has totally consumed them. It’s a mental disease.
