McLennan County District Attorney Barry Johnson, whos 75 days into his first term, says he will make a decision in early April on what to do with the remaining Twin Peaks cases.
"Without a doubt, the Twin Peaks cases that I've inherited, and there are 24 of them, have taken most of our time and emotional energy by going through those cases, he said.
"Certainly out of the 24, I think we are looking at some dismissals."
Johnson retained most of the staff of former DA Abel Reyna and brags about their abilities and skills.

Paging ‘whatshisname!
Hmm.
Let’s see.
To prosecute means eventually all the ballistics and (more damningly) the video footage the defense demands must be released.
So next month the final charges will be dropped.
Her name, actually.

Not one of those cases will convict beyond a reasonable doubt. All have self defense!!— every damned one. Actually the Barnie Fifes shot 9 men with AR15s that the bikers didn’t have. If you and I agree that we hate each other and stand off in a face to face gun fight THAT IS NOT A CRIME!! It has never been a crime.
Ouch.
They will not be convicted at all, because the Government will withhold the video and thus (as we saw earlier) any convictions they could get will be tossed out for withholding the video.
Basically, the witnesses interviews from the day after the debacle seem to be confirmed.
I’m in favor of moving forward with Twin Peaks prosecutions.

Brady is the law. Immediate dismissal. Do you know the cost of this fiasco. I think it is in the BILLIONS!!Wasted.
The RIGHT to a SPEEDY trial comes to mind in this case.
Actually that clears up a whole lotta questions.
Thanks for update

Barry Johnson “doesn’t get it”, not one bit. I talked to him at length and can guarantee you he doesn’t understand. He doesn’t understand because Abel was right, “he ain’t from here,” well, he’s from here but he was gone twenty years and when he came back things had changed. Boy, had things changed. The people of the County had gotten used to very little accountability in their elected officials, downright secrecy, everywhere else this would be odd, not here. Our newspaper and tv stations weren’t demanding answers from Abel nor Parnell. no microphones and cameras in the face for a “no comment”, hell, just no bother, no questions.
“Hey, you know Abel doesn’t talk to the media, are you going to be like that?”, first question.
Barry J looks befuzzled, the thought of a politician not talking to the media or answering questions is THAT foreign to him. He comes from Dallas County where they actually have the TEXAS TRANSPARENCY ACT.
When told that McLennan County doesn’t have it, Barry just looks surprised and confused for a nano second, then you can see the “oh, that too”, switch go on.
Ask Sandra Lynch if Barry Johnson is accessible.
She’ll tell you he is, the newspaper just today says he will end the torture of the ridiculous fiasco we called TWIN PEAKS in April. Barry is concerned with the lives of the people themselves.
