There was a spot of time when some Islamic philosophers had read Aristotle and became familiar with reason and they were able to have good discussions with other philosophers.
Around 1100 AD some imams got together and decided that western civilization philosophy had no place in the islamic world. They issued death sentences for anyone teaching philosophy or reading it.
When no dialogue is possible with the islamic state there can be no reasoned discussions.
