Is Free Republic simply an echo chamber?

This is Free Republic, minus admins and without the need to create an original post.

Our comments get out far beyond you and I here. Just ask Kristinn, Buckhead, and Jim Rob.

True, and I won't be surprised if Dissenter comments end up being quoted in media stories as well.

But the way it's being pitched in the American Thinker article and its association with Gab makes me think it will be a lot of preaching to the choir - not that I'm criticizing anyone who wants to do that...

Sounds wonderful, until liberals undertake a denial-of-service attack on it.

I posted a thread once and found a porno image posted in a reply. I immediately hit the “Abuse” button, and the mods killed it and banned to poster. If there are no mods, there is no abuse button, and . . .

I notice the presence of “likes” in Dissenter; maybe there is a way of voting posters off your own personal view of Dissenter at your own discretion. And maybe I could decide that I trust you to make that decision, and piggyback on your list of banned posters.

The reality is IMHO that without any mod function you will soon find it looking like a stall in a public bathroom. So I wonder what functionality exists in Dissenter. If none, IMHO Dissenter is not long for this world.
