Lawyer for Michael Jackson, Jussie Smollett named as Avenatti co-conspirator

Attorney Mark Geragos, 61, was not actually named in the criminal complaint against Avenatti, but two sources familiar with the matter tell The Wall Street Journal that he is the “CC-1” that prosecutors referred to in the document.

According to his website, Geragos has represented “some of the most prominent figures in the world” over the last 30 years. His client list includes rap moguls Suge Knight and Sean “Diddy” Combs, actress Winona Ryder, boxer Mike Tyson, singer Chris Brown and convicted murderer Scott Peterson.

In the early 2000s, Geragos helped the late King of Pop secure an acquittal on child molestation charges in California. He had been trying to get Smollett, the former “Empire” star, out of his legal troubles before Avenatti’s arrest Monday.

Geragos was a CNN analyst, too. They've just broken that link according to the article.

Haven't seen this much action since Grandma turned on the kitchen light and the cockroaches all fled for safer ground...

Why hasn’t he been charged? The Feds have recordings so don’t need his testimony.

So now Justin Smollett needs a new lawyer? Oh, man! As far as I know he still has not confessed yet.

Avenatti is on tape; Geragos not, so far as has been reported.

I imagine he’ll be curtailing his calls to Scott Peterson now.

Check out the March 21 meeting described in the linked announcement from the US Attorney. As stated therein, this meeting was at the direction of law enforcement, so it would have been recorded. CC-1 (allegedly Geragos) not only attended the meeting, but conferred with Avenatti before Avenatti made a further demand. Avenatti was taking the lead, but CC-1 was clearly in on it and would have received a portion of the payment if Nike had agreed.

Yes, that’s the guy who tried to get Scott Peterson off with some far-fetched lies. Maybe they can become bunkies.

Oh jeez, can Smollett pick them or what? First he colludes with the African equivalence of Beavis and Butthead to commit a ridiculous and obvious hate crime fraud on a wary American public then chooses Simon Legree as his lawyer. From this day forward his picture will appear next to “Looser” in the dictionary.

Unlikely, unless there's a lot more to the case than we know.

Peterson is on death row at San Quentin. Which is nice for him, because it's right near SF Bay, where he disposed of his pregnant wife's body.

I'm sure the salt air brings back pleasant memories.

Of course, he may not be able to make out its subtle aroma, being surrounded as he is by a diversity of other aromas.

Every cable or dish subscription with CNN or MSNBC pays those networks to spew hate on us.

Cancel your subscriptions, get a good antenna, stream what content you do want over the Internet for a smaller price, and watch movies and shows from your local library.

Starve the beast that hates America!

Well, there it is... I had skimmed that piece, and have no excuse for not absorbing his being at the meeting. So, the reason for delayed charges is, as you note, a mystery so far. Maybe the Feds have even more leverage before an exact charge is made. I’ll be watching...

And thanks!

I expect, did not check, CNN is running a banner saying these are alleged crimes and that once CNN media team posts his bond he will be on CNN to disputed these fake charges by hand picked lawyers of that guy Trump.

They'll probably accuse PDJT of "coordination" with DOJ to explain the sudden outbreak of Trump Curse Syndrome.

The thug Smollett got off... guess Chicago will round up two Trump supporters and put THEM in jail.

Our ‘legal system’... one set of laws for liberal elites and their pets and one for the rest of us.

Eff the sh*ts...
