Police in Germany have arrested 10 people on suspicion of planning an Islamist attack.
The arrests were made after some 200 police officers carried out raids in the states of Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate.
The men had plotted to "kill as many 'non-believers' as possible" using a vehicle and guns, prosecutors said.
A 21-year-old man from Offenbach, near Frankfurt, and two 31-year-old brothers from Wiesbaden are the main suspects.
"They had already made contact with different arms dealers, rented a large vehicle and collected financial assets to use for the purchase of guns and the execution of the planned murders," a spokeswoman for the prosecutor's office said.
The suspects are aged between 20 and 42 and several are German nationals, the spokeswoman added.

Very limited public comment by the cops and authorities over the weekend. Other than talking over the four raids conducted (Frankfurt, Wiesbaden Offenbach, and Mainz), nothing else. The anticipated target? That has yet to be mentioned either. The apparent trigger for the cop raids? They’d gone to rent the van for the operation.
Just a humble view, this was planned out way before the NZ episode occurred and nothing to do with it. Also one other noticeable item not in any public statement...residency and citizenship are not discussed. Although two of the members of the arrested group are German citizens (they may be dual citizens but that part has yet to be told).

You are probably correct but knowing the yoops (my term for europeans) they’ll make some excuse for the plotters.
Wiesbaden has an army post, i was there under Reagan. Looks like it’s changed a bit.
My aunt and uncle was there when JFK was pres and we visited from London where my dad was stationed. Christmas of ‘61 if I remember right. Yikes.
