Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y, thinks the planet will be destroyed in 12 years if we don’t stop producing carbon dioxide with our cars, planes and oil consumption.

I think this is the way she put it: “We’ll all be dead in 12 years, if we’re not serious about climate change.”

Not only is the fake news loaded hourly with tales of imminent doom and gloom for the Earth if we don’t transform our lifestyles, economies, diet and say goodbye to air-conditioning and heating in our homes, but even the corporate ads play homage to this apocalyptic charade, this monumental hoax, this epic manipulation.

Know-nothings from Al Gore to Barack Obama’s Environmental Protection Agency chief have called this gas, which is as naturally occurring as oxygen and just as necessary to life on Earth, a “pollutant,” which it certainly is not, and the greatest peril the human race faces.

But CO2 gets a bad rap from the pseudo-scientists and those who will look for any excuse to remake to the world’s economy in their own best interest. If it were a real threat, just think of how capitalism would address it.

We are currently in the middle of a glacial period (although it’s less intense now than it was 20,000 years ago) but this is not the only period of glaciation in Earth’s history; there have been many in the distant past, as illustrated in Figure 16.2. In general, however, Earth has been warm enough to be ice-free for much more of the time than it has been cold enough to be glaciated.

Given that, is it so surprising that the average temperature has risen by 1.5 degrees in the past 100 years?

Someone should start a doomsday countdown clock pegged to the exact date Cortez made her 12-year claim. After all, we’re down to 11 years and some months already, and time marches by more quickly then people expect.

By November of 2020 it will be down to ten years and a few months, and by November of of 2024, when Cortez is eligible for the presidency, it will be six years and few months. She’ll look more and more like a fool each and every month unless, of course, we’re all boiling by then.

And enough of this “Occasional-Cortex”, AOC, etc. She hates to be called Cortez, so that’s good enough for me.

Dummy, if all of us stopped burning carbon, thousands of people would die by freezing in the winter, dying of heat in the summer, dying due to hospitals being unable to perform many operations, farmers would be able to harvest and sell only a tiny portions of their crops or meat and many people would die of starvation, people couldn't get to work and many businesses would shut down, businesses couldn't get materials to make things even if they have workers, no garbage would be collected, water and electric systems would shut down, the only transportation would be walking, riding bikes, since all the animals that we could ride would be eaten, and on and on and on. But you can bet AOC would survive by cheating.

Just because the author agrees with us does not make him brilliant. At least not on all issues.

So, What is one of the main end products of any combustion process (ie - ‘burn it up’).

Why CO2 of course.

For example, for methane:
CH4 + O2 —> CO2 + H2O

So a suggested solution to ‘burn up’ the CO2 makes him look ridiculous.
