CONCORD -- New Hampshire residents will face expanded background checks and a seven-day waiting period for gun purchases if a pair of bills passed in the House of Representatives become law.
The House voted Tuesday to expand background checks for private gun sales and transfers, as well as add a seven-day waiting period before a sale can be completed.
The bill, which passed on a 203-148 vote, would close a loophole in the current New Hampshire law that allows for private firearm transactions to take place at gun shows without a background check.

They should also pass back ground checks and 7 day waiting periods for abortions too, and see which law gets tossed by a court and which one doesn’t.
Creeping inch by inch into New Zealand laws.
So now the new state motto will be Live Free or Die Within Limits Set By The Government
They are also hard at work banning straws and implementing an income tax. The damn Massholes want to turn us into California East.
Excellent.
I heard that the bill to prohibit income tax forever in the state got shot down by the dems.
The comments are the link I think are pretty representative of what the general attitude is in NH.
It looks like the dems are working hard to get unelected in NH next year.
Mr mm and I are actively looking at property in NH for retirement, to get out of this hellhole that NY has become and we will NOT be bringing any NYC politics with us.
We will be voting and voting as conservative as we can get, like we do now. Only here, our votes don't count for anything. They are just throwaway votes. It's so frustrating.
We've seen the destruction that liberal politics brings on a state and hate it with a passion. We will be happy to join you in your fight against the encroaching Masshole influence.
So two years ago they passed constitutional carry. Now the leftards have taken over and seek to undo all they can.
I don’t buy at gun shows, so I have not been through their process.....
But it is my understanding that federal laws are still in effect at gun shows and that you must fill out the same paperwork that you fill out at any gun store.
If that is correct, the entire story is based on ignorance, misinformation and a lie. And an agenda.
That said, it is my contention that purchasing a gun should require zero paperwork.
My son lives in NH and he says that they’ve had, in the last year, a total of 7 gun related incidents and four of them were overzealous cops.
NH, VT, and ME are vying for position of the safest state in the country.
The dems are addressing a *problem* that doesn’t even exist.
The NH house did pass these gun restrictions.
The entire story is not out to lunch.
No, it will be “Live sorta free within limits set by the nanny state...OR DIE!”
I know, thus my handle. My son also lives in NH and has a security clearance. My other son has a NH CC permit (not needed now but good to have). Cambridge elites and hand wringing soccer moms will destroy NH just as sure as the migrating NYC leftards and the radical lesbians did to VT.
“Why does so much blood and treasure need to be expended to maintain individual freedoms?”
Because power is intoxicating and addictive.
My point was poorly made.
My point is the writer includes the statement that the bill corrects the “bad” ability to purchase at a gun store and bypass the need to fill out the federal forms.
In other words, gun shows are bad. People are using them to avoid federal oversight.
That makes the story no longer a news article, but instead a propaganda piece using the news as bait.
Some experience with compulsive liars has taught me that most liars include enough of the truth in their lies that their story has plausibility, unless you have been to that circus before and recognize the signs.
So the unaware non-gun owner reads this story and recognized the fact that the TV just had a story on it about the proposed law and that gives the idea that gun shows are straight out of the wild west and by golly we need to pass that law to stop it.
What I would like to see stopped is so called news reporters that can’t keep their politics out of their reporting.
I don’t see background check and 4473 in the bill of rights but maybe I missed it somehow.
What part of shall not be infringed dont they understand?
