Republican Florida Sen. Marco Rubio announced Tuesday on Twitter his intention to introduce a constitutional amendment that would permanently keep the number of Supreme Court justices at nine.
We must prevent further destabilization of essential institutions, Rubio tweeted. Court packing is quickly becoming a litmus test for 2020 Democratic candidates. Therefore I will be introducing a constitutional amendment to keep the number of seats on #SCOTUS at 9.

Good for starting dinner conversations but chance of getting 2/3 in either house of congress: snowball in hell. Rubio got some angry calls after he voted against Trump's ED.

What “destabilization” of “essential institutions” does he think has already occurred?
Oh, it’s obvious, but as a CINO he has very wrong ideas about it all. He has not been too concerned about the total subversion of all 3 branches of the federal govt by Leftard ideologues. He has been supportive rather than critical wrt the Mueller farce. etc etc.

Morons. If the Democrats are proposing an 11 justice supreme court, the GOP should oblige them tomorrow.

Best way to get Dems on board is for Trump to float the idea of expanding the court before the 2020 elections. Preferably during the first presidential debate. They’ll be tripping over themselves to rush through legislation they won’t know what hit them.

Dems are channeling FDR’s 1937 court packing plan with forced retirements to allow replacements. One Democrat congressman denounced the plan as being on the same moral plane as jury packing and ballot box stuffing. “This is more power than a good man should want, or a bad man should have.”

Morons. If the Democrats are proposing an 11 justice supreme court, the GOP should oblige them tomorrow. Absolutely right.
And, if he does it by executive order they will take him to court and we will eventually get an order from the Supremes limiting their number to 9...

Pointless since it would never get past the House.

I’m not too worried about packing the court as I doubt the sitting justices will want to be a political tool for every administration that comes along in the future. Most likely the justices will simply throw out any law that tries to pack the court against their will and/or simply ignore (refuse to seat) any additional judges.
I suspect the Democrats know the same and are simply bluffing, trying to motivate their sick base.
