It took me a while to understand the economics of this, now I think I do.
In the old days, rich people had to donate serious money to get their kids into elite schools (I’m guessing high single digit millions in today’s money).

In my chemistry pre-requisite class, I still remember the lab lady that really difficult to understand. I honestly can't remember if she was Indian or what. She kept telling people to not forget the "chickensh*t", the "chickensh*t" is very important. It took half the class period to realize that she was saying that you need to sign the "check-in sheet" or the prof will think you didn't show up to the lab. For crooning out loud, I don't think it's outrageous for a person to want an instructor that you can freakin' understand.

Judicial Watch obtained the DOD documents in a response to a Freedom of Information Act request (FOIA) filed on April 8, 2013. The FOIA requested “Any and all records concerning, regarding, or related to the preparation and presentation of training materials on hate groups or hate crimes distributed or used by the Air Force.”
Included in the 133 pages of lesson plans and PowerPoint slides provided by the Air Force is a January 2013 Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute “student guide” entitled “Extremism.” The document says that it is “for training purposes only” and “do not use on the job.” Highlights include:
•The document defines extremists as “a person who advocates the use of force or violence; advocates supremacist causes based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, or national origin; or otherwise engages to illegally deprive individuals or groups of their civil rights.”
•A statement that “Nowadays, instead of dressing in sheets or publically espousing hate messages, many extremists will talk of individual liberties, states’ rights, and how to make the world a better place.”
•“[W]hile not all extremist groups are hate groups, all hate groups are extremist groups.”
•Under a section labeled “Extremist Ideologies” the document states, “In U.S. history, there are many examples of extremist ideologies and movements. The colonists who sought to free themselves from British rule and the Confederate states who sought to secede from the Northern states are just two examples.”
•In this same section, the document lists the 9/11 attack under a category of “Historical events.”
•“[A]ctive participation…with regard to extremist organizations is incompatible with military service and, is therefore prohibited.” [Emphasis in original]
•The document details the “seven stages of hate” and sixteen “extremists’ traits.”
•The SPLC is listed as a resource for information on hate groups and referenced several times throughout the guide.
•Of the five organizations besides the SPLC listed as resources, one is an SPLC project (Teaching Tolerance) and one considers any politically or socially conservative movement to be a potential hate group (Political Research Associates).
•Other than a mention of 9/11 and the Sudan, there is no discussion of Islamic extremism.

I was all ready to say that you’re full of crap on the millions of dollars thing but, according to the inflation calculator that I found online, throwing $250,000 at something in 1975 is like throwing $1.3 million at it today.
Do you have any idea how politically conservative the military is? Nobody would get a security clearance renewed if this was policy (yeah, I didn’t forget that you blew right past my post that I pinged you on). I’m not doubting that DoD had stupid documents like that thrown at them but these stories of the military gearing up to pull people out of their houses, arrest them, and start shooting people who disobey is complete crap. Obozo probably had little masturbation fantasies about it but that would never happen. How do I know? Working for the military (active duty, civil service, and contractor) in various capacities for 25 years.
People join the military to serve their country and communities, not wage war on them. I guarantee that any national leader that tried that crap would see people walking off their posts en-masse saying to superiors, “Arrest me and send me to jail, this isn’t what I signed up for. I’d rather sit in jail and be dishonorably discharged than roll into a community and rain holy terror on them. How am I supposed to go home, look into my kids’ shiny eyes, and explain to them why I did something like that?” People like Obama and your average liberal have the worst twisted ideas of how military people are and the media sure doesn’t help.

Absolutely.
What kills me is that Bush & Rumsfeld were every bit as bad for prosecuting soldiers that didn’t memorize the 120-page primer on the rules of engagement. Apparently an enemy combatant playing dead and then reaching for a gun in their waistband isn’t grounds to shoot them. That’s not to say that Obozo wasn’t a real skunk on this, too.
For that matter, even the current administration has its problems. Mattis started out good but I think he’s made a career of kowtowing to leftists to advance his career and forgot how to deal with normal people. He got his stars in the Afghanistan and is emotionally tied to it. We’ll never bring around the Afghanis, you can’t help somebody that doesn’t want it. As much as I despise Obama, he ran on the platform of cold pull-out from Afghanistan and Iraq. That’s what the people voted for. OK, fine, he should’ve done it. If there’s a good reason for continued involvement in Afghanistan, the civilian govt. and military 4-star level has utterly failed to do their job and make that case to me.
