I love a public service homicide. But yeah, I’d hate to be the guy who sold this kid a life insurance policy.
Agreed DP. He will surely ‘Die Buckwheats’ if the kidnappers get their hands on him. One more time, ‘The Old Way’, will be used.
POPE ????
How did Francesa get inyo this. He libves in Manhasset!
Well. That's crossing the line.
LOL
It’s a great movie if you’ve never seen it.
And that’s what those guys were/are really like.
Mostly were because Little Italy doesn’t really exist anymore.
Staten Island is now Little Italy :)
Yep.
Any possibility that the Police want to put a lid on this fast and ginned up a likely suspect before things get out of hand between the families and their crews?
Buy a little time to let things cool off?
LOL
I had a beautiful one once.
We wanted to look like the mobsters with big money.
It’s the death or prison thing that turned me off :)
Great minds think alike.
How can they let the public believe that after ALL the stories of the Mafia being dead (Which I personally know is a ridiculous statement to the umpteenth degree) that in 2019 the head of a family was whacked.
There’s more going on here.
There is NO WAY the kid wouldn’t know who this guy was.
It’s just not possible. Anyone who lives here knows what.
It’s POSSIBLE he was such a psycho that he didn’t care. In either case he’s dead.
If he indeed did it.
If the cops could pin this on Lee Harvey Oswald, they would.
Was there a movie involving the pope and some gangsters?
Does the current pope have a residence in Manhasset?
Suspect Anthony Comello, in custody:
Well yeah, The Godfather III. And everyone knows that 2 month pope, or however long he lived was poisoned for going too much against the grain.
But “The Pope of Greenwich Village” is about 2 Italian guys in Little Italy who rob the wrong place.
There’s no papal involvement in the movie :)
Maybe a non-mobster, but he really got the job done.
Re Castellano and the steakhouse. Food critics in NYC are really tough.
Leave the gun, too.
They can name a suspect, keep him for a while and decide there’s not enough evidence and release him with a bus ticket to ANYWHERE ELSE. Dirty trick, for sure.
That was a diffferent Little Italy. Sullivan Street St. Anthony’s parish. Much less commercial than the Mulberry Street edition. What was interesting, and Nathan Glazer discovered this, was that the Italians in the West Village were far less hostile to the burgeoning homosexual community, as long as they kept within bounds, than the other neighborhoods in Manhattan. Also Stonewall was run by the organization and the famed riot occured because the crowd at Stonewall mistook the NYPD action as another gay beatdown when it was in cooperation with the State Liquor Authority to close down the bar because of its links to organized crime. And yes Pope is a great movie but the cousins do emerge somewhat victorious as they get the goods on cooperation between the organization and NYPD.
Goodfellas is my favorite. My father in law was an extra and the portrayals are more in keeping with who and what these guys were and the scorn they felt for the suckers who worked. Far more realistic than the Sicilian Knights Errant of the Godfather.
Interesting.
Yes the Pope of Greenwich Village, 1983 84. Very good film. My Manhasset reference was to sports radio spieler Mike Francesa, called the SportsPope by many for his pompous arrogance. He lives in Manhasset. A little New York inside humor.
