Well I saw someplace this morning that he was licensed for firearms.
That gun ban is going to as effective as a pinch of goose $hit.
The NZ killer had no prior criminal record.
What gun control law would have stopped him?
Mass punishment of the innocent is always the best course. Right???
Gun laws helped cause the problem, sop more gun laws will fix it.

I toured the North Island for 3 days just after Christmas 1987 as a member of the BSA contingent attending the XVIth World Scout Jamboree. It was a whirlwind tour by coach, so it was difficult to get a feel for things on the ground. However the countryside was greener than Ireland - absolutely gorgeous. I got the sense that the younger local white population was a bit antagonistic towards the U.S.
When the next Pacific War happens, and China is threatening both New Zealand and Australia, they can go defend themselves. No American lives should be lost for either one of these gun grabbing governments.
If/when that dreadful day comes, we will probably be too busy within the U.S. fighting our own CWII. There truly seems to be something suicidal in the British Commonwealth psyche. The Marxist mantra against colonialism seems to have overloaded there guilt complex resulting in a short circuit in their ability to reason. There may be enough conservatives in the Land of Oz to hold out, but the UK, Canada (save for maybe Alberta and Saskatchewan), and NZ are done for.

If a shooter is going to shoot unarmed “fish in a barrel,” then a semi auto is no more deadly than a bolt action hunting rifle and a fanny pack full of 5 round magazines. The Virginia Tech shooter did about as much damage with a couple of glock pistols and a fanny pack filled with magazines.
