Suppose Jim Jordan ran for the senate.

Would you vote for him?

Do you think a “D” on the ballots next to his name will make him seem taller? He could arrange that.

In the days when Dick Cavett had his popular interview show a young woman saw him walking by. “You know, we have no way of judging it when someone’s on TV but in person I see you really are short!”

He replied: “I always appear taller when standing on my wallet.”

My opinion only which isn’t popular, but it’s my understanding he has upwards of $4 billion available without the emergency declaration. This year. Probably not worth a veto and making this a two year long losing issue when he’s got $4 billion to spend. I hope I’m wrong, but between disease, crime, and the costs of the ongoing invasion he can make the case politically without expanding emergency declarations to political issues which should be in the domain of Congress. Like additional spending, like it or not. Or the gun violence emergency, which is coming, but at least lacking precedent. I’d support a bill limiting emergencies to natural disasters and violent threats to the nation. But not right now, since the border does represent a violent threat. After a bill, which won’t be introduced, passes.

We never do anything bold because we’re afraid the other side will abuse the precedent. Then the other side takes over and creates the precedent anyway.

Little Marco has a billionaire benefactor. I forgot the benefactor's name but he has a son who is a homo and was mad his son couldn't marry his boyfriend. So the guy is a big contributor to the Human Rights Campaign, which is a liberal pro homo pac. You see their stickers all over FL, and Rubio is beholden to them. Not surprising since Little Marco is/was a homo too.

There is no other side. Both parties want open borders. POTUS is riding solo on this.

But Trump is also recently (e.g. SOTU, CPAC) suddenly started talking about increasing legal immigration.

Increasing h1b visas -- No 1 job killer for americans in high tech.

With usual fony excuse of not having enough people to fill the jobs.

So he has also boarded cheap labor train.

You want to hurt them cut off donations. I will donate only directly to the Trump Campaign. When RNC calls I tell they no and why. While they court big money donors they need the $59 and $100 donors. You can bitch all you want cut off the cash and they may listen.

Exactly.
The party that claims to be against open borders never does anything bold to achieve its goals.
The party that claims to be against abortion never does anything bold to achieve its goals.
The party that claims to be against gay marriage never does anything to achieve its goals.
The party that claims to be against pornography never does anything bold to achieve its goals.
The party that claims to believe in the GOP Platform never does anything bold to achieve its goals.

Over and over again one party loves to be elected but lacks the will to use power to achieve its goals. The other has no such compunction.

Perhaps, but that’s where we are on this issue. A veto just sends it to the courts. And you’re correct, the left has already suggested a future emergency over gun deaths. As proved by the reduction of gun deaths the last couple decades. That, of course, is pure executive legislation. The current issue regards the spending of funds. The appropriation of which belongs to Congress, the spending to the Executive branch. The inverse of Nixon’s attempt not to spend approved legislative spending, which he lost. I suspect the President could prevail in the courts, but if the funds are there to build most of what he’s asking for, I’m not sure it’s worth fighting the last billion or so for two years in the courts. As I noted before, I fear the numbers, health and criminality, not all of them, will make many Americans more supportive of restricting illegal entry the next couple years.

You mean like the Obama Iran Deal and the treaty clause? Corker bill end run around the Constitution ring any bells? Sorry, Congress is hopelessly corrupted. Both parties. We have a POTUS trying to win a battle against a Corrupt Congress and must support him. It’s that simple.

What difference would it make? The GOP is fully onboard the open borders agenda. Jim Jordan isn’t going to change that.
