Trump owes Manafort nothing. But all things considered, I would like to see him at least commute the sentence to time served, and issue a written statement that in his opinion, the whole intent of the prosecution was political, and was ultimately aimed at The President.

My theory is that Pence and Ryan were on alert as a standby ticket - and knew it

Look at the history of how many GOP pres contenders and campaigns had employed Paul Manafort
The Trumpists may have been uncomfortable with Manaforts ongoing private business clientele, but after the uniparty took out Lewandoski on the flimsiest of setups, at a critical time, Trump the political novice needed a Hail Mary to bring home the nomination

Why would you conclude that? Manafort has been the RATs drone target to get Trump. Manafort has been “shielding Trump” from direct fire.
