I’m guessing the grid is not designed to handle restarting such large areas at once or they don’t eave enough competent engineers to develop a plan to re-energize smaller areas at a time.
I know someone who worked for a large refrigerated/frozen food warehouse. In the event of a power outage, they had specific procedures to restart refrigeration equipment as you could blow transformers if everything tried to start all at once.
Im a little puzzled as to why Nellis, compared to other, closer airbases, would be greatly involved. Might expect to see some special reconnaissance flights. Fill me in.
.. some ominous threats from Maduro tonight:
- it is time for justice against internal leaders
- calls on pro-regime gangs to take active measures against traitors
- says Natl Assembly guilty of treason
He would not be calling the National Assembly ‘treasonous’ unless Guaidó did indeed get the Declaration for a National Emergency today.......thus Guaidó can now declare a 187 for foreign military intervention if necessary.
maduro shot one of the engineers over the last couple days....he hasn’t a clue who to trust at this juncture.
From the photos I’ve seen of the grid there was lots of undergrowth choking it so you can Imagine the grid is in rough shape. It’s also reported even back up generators for hospitals etc weren’t working and not even helpful.
Yes, we arent that close compared to Florida or Texas, we are the primary west coast air defense base and nearby is worldwide drone command facility. But the activity is continuing throughout the night. Nellis can Hande all manner of aircraft, but mostly air superiority fighters are based here. Really a remarkable level of activity...it could be providing air cover for other activity emanating from other locations.
Thanks! +1 informative
“diplomatic staff at the embassy has become a constraint on U.S. policy.”
That seems to strongly imply military action.
The recognized President, Juan Guido, is now asking the US, France, Colombia and Brazil, who operate Naval Forces off the Venezuelan coast, to blockade Cuban support to Maduro.
The new anti-communist President of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, is scheduled to meet with President Trump on 19 March, and a series of pretty big deals are being worked right now - big changes to Brazil’s trade relationships away from China and toward the USA, Defense and Space Program cooperation - and no doubt, coordination on Venezuela.
see post 48 ..could explain the activity
Very interesting...
Looks like a little bit of Roundup could have prevented that.
....Oil industry sources said that exports from the primary port of Jose had been halted for lack of power, cutting off Venezuelas primary source of revenue.
....Venezuela suspends school and business activities on Tuesday amid blackout.
...Guaido called for a halt in shipments of oil to Maduros political ally Cuba, which has received discounted crude from Venezuela for nearly two decades.
...Venezuelas electrical grid has suffered from years of underinvestment. Restrictions on imports have affected the provision of spare parts, while ‘many skilled technical personnel have fled the country’.
Yes....obviously the military given responsibility for the grid could have cared less.
My, my. That might include financial resources as well. And we could lock that section of water up so tight the cartels would start squealing. And it isn’t an invasion, and it’s high time the Cubans got shut down anyway. Very, very interesting.
Brazil and Colombia share long borders with Venezuela, and are well (best) suited to base any military operations into Venezuela.
Brazil and Colombia are bearing the brunt of the refugee and humanitarian crisis caused by Venezuela’s implosion.
Brazil and Colombia are the new anti-communist axis in Latin America, after the election of Brazil’s new President - the so-called Trump of the Tropics.
The Maduro Regime has been the biggest force attempting subversion in both Brazil and Colombia for some time.
All the stars are aligned, for them to cooperate in resolving this crisis.
Meanwhile Maduro in the ultimate act of redistribution had routed a chunk of the nation’s gold to China where it awaits him so he can frolic in the sun in his retirement. Really hope he ends up swinging from a lamppost in Caracas before he rejoins his gold.
Great post and I agree on all points!
Maduro reminds me of Saddams exit.....the guys got to buy time to get out of dodge...if he makes it!
Venezuelan oil revenues have been supporting the Cuban regime, Leftist subversion throughout the Americas, and even Iranian malign activities. Even Erdogan in Turkey has been running suspicious gold shipments out of Venezuela.
The loss of those revenues will starve a lot of bad actors. A whole rogue's gallery of anti-American thugs.
