I guess Maduro didn't get the juice turned back on in three hours after all, huh?
BTW, this is a picture perfect example of Ayn Rand's prediction of the collapse of the U.S. in "Atlas Shrugged", except the educated, professional and worker classes fled to adjacent countries instead of to "Galt's Gulch" ...

What happens when you ignore infrastructure for more important...issues of the revolution.
Same thing will happen in California.

Atlas Shrugged, got the book right here, but I think I will just watch the 3 movies again instead of reading the book again.

There were not many lights on the earth below. The countryside was an empty black sheet, with a few occasional flickers in the windows of some government structures, and the trembling glow of candles in the windows of thriftless homes. Most of the rural population had long been reduced to the life of those ages when artificial light was an exorbitant luxury, and a sunset put an end to human activity. The towns were like scattered puddles, left behind by a receding tide, still holding some precious drops of electricity, but drying out in a desert of rations, quotes, controls and power conservation rules.
Looking down, they could see the last convulsions: the lights of the cars were darting through the streets, like animals trapped in a maze, frantically seeking an exit, the bridges were jammed with cars, the approaches to bridges were veins of massed headlights, glittering bottlenecks stopping all motion, and the desperate screaming of sirens reached faintly to the height of the plane.
The plane was above the peaks of the skyscrapers when suddenly, with the abruptness of a shudder, as if the ground had parted to engulf it, the city disappeared from the face of the earth.

Stalin had his purges. Pol Pot had his killing fields. Castro and Che had their murders. South Africa has their slaughters. Kim Jong-un and his family, and Chavez and company have their starvation.
These all have something in common, meant to enslave the vulnerable, punish the good, and wipe out any opposition, all while the leaders lived really posh lives.
I wonder what that was, AOC and Bernie?

Played my usual game with the article given its source. Control-F - search for "socialism". Nope. "Socialist"? Nada. They're blaming Maduro, corruption, and U.S. sanctions, but never Saint Huey and the ism he brought to Venezuela.
The irony is that Maduro may be correct about "sabotage" if you stretch that word to mean the staff stealing stuff and selling it on the black market to feed their kids. The hydro industry was nationalized in 2005, meaning that the party took over the plum management positions and skimmed merrily off the top since then. No money left for maintenance, testing, and upgrades. It coasted for an amazing seven years - as recently as 2012 hydro was producing 65% of Venezuela's power. It's been fraying slowly since then, rolling brownouts, substation explosions, and now it's hard down.

On the brighter side, top socialists in Venezuela are still eating caviar and going out to high class nightclubs. The leaders in commie hellholes don’t suffer.
