Clyburn defends Holocaust comments

House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.) on Thursday defended controversial comments he made this week related to the Holocaust, saying that dark chapter of history — and the Jewish suffering that accompanied it — was uniquely horrific and he would never diminish its significance.

"Every student of history, which I consider myself to be, recognizes the Holocaust as a unique atrocity which resulted in the deaths of six million Jews," he said in a statement posted to Twitter. "It should never be minimized; I never have and I never will."

Clyburn came under fire Thursday from Republicans and some Jewish groups after saying the experience of Rep. Ilhan Omar (Minn.) — a freshman Democrat who fled violence in her country and spent four years in a Kenyan refugee camp — was "more personal" than that of those whose parents suffered through the Holocaust or other historical instances of savage violence and human rights abuse.

"I'm serious about that. There are people who tell me, 'Well, my parents are Holocaust survivors.' 'My parents did this.' It's more personal with her," Clyburn told The Hill.

"I've talked to her, and I can tell you she is living through a lot of pain."

So how does it feel to be a member of the American Nazi Party, Mr. Clyburn?

Hope it works out for you.

So who caused her suffering? I'm pretty sure it wasn't "the Jews". How is that supposed to have affected her attitude towards Israel?

So, she escaped one of the planet's hell-holes to peace and prosperity in America, but her so-called "suffering" is "more personal" than that of people whose loved ones were murdered in the Holocaust???

Words (at least those printable in this forum) fail me.

Kinda like how the Jewish children of Holocaust survivors is "more personal" because these people actually knew these survivors as opposed to, let's say, the descendants of slaves many generations later to whom slavery was "academic".

Remember this, Mr Cyborn, when the reparations bill is brought up, hmmmmmmkay?

Wow! This SOB is beyond redemption. Just once, I would like to see one of these pieces of dreck walk in the shoes of people whose family have been utterly destroyed.

My father and his brothers must be wondering why they went to war against Germany.

Our country is on the cusp of evil taking over.

I don’t get it. Why would he even make such a comparison? Any comparison? What’s his point? That because she faced political/sexual persecution in a foreign land that we should excuse whatever ridiculous notions come out of her mouth?

Funny because he already did.

Maybe we should all send her some pics of the 9/11 as a reminder of her muzzie faith.

I don’t know how we’re going to get these idiots out of government, from either party. Though usually a GOP blunder gets a lot more media coverage and social pressure. It’s going to take a mass movement by the people to ridicule them and educate their constituents on the folly of their work and agenda because we can’t rely on the opposition party to do it correctly.

My guess, these Muslim Jihadist b*tches were probably passing out candy during the 9/11 attacks, just like the Palestinians in Gaza were doing
