Same reason CPAC invited Van Jones. Our side listens and engages in debate. Just maybe a little parcel of common ground can be discovered. If not, at least we tried.
The reason the Left is afraid of free speech is because it knows (either consciously, unconsciously, or both) that its ideas cannot stand up to scrutiny and challenge in the real world.
Liberty University isn't afraid of such challenge to its ideas and beliefs.
In fact, the more the truth is challenged, the better it looks and the more it spreads.
The best thing our country can do is invite socialism into public debate. Every university where students claim to believe in socialism should hold debates comparing it to free market concepts.
When students and faculty see it for what it really is, it will be discarded.
