The Democratic Socialists of America — a key backer of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez’s stunning victory last year — endorsed public defender Tiffany Caban for Queens District Attorney Sunday.
DSA wasted no time likening Caban’s insurgent campaign to AOC’s upset of former Congressman Joe Crowley in last June’s Democratic primary.
“Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s surprise victory opened the doors for a new, Democratic Socialist vision of electoral politics. It shows people are no longer content with out-of-touch politicians that ignore the working class,” said Sasha Weinstein, of NYC-DSA’s Queens Electoral Organizing Committee.
“A Cabán victory will show that Queens is ready to throw out establishment politicians, close Rikers the right way, and invest in community, not billion-dollar jails,” added Weinstein.

Jewish Socialists. As a practicing Jew, I always wondered if these were the people Hitler wanted dead and the rest of us were collateral damage. I have several friends who are Jewish Socialists and if I call them that, they deny it vehemently and go on the attack. I listen and then say they proved my point.
Lost a couple of lifelong friends who did not like the fact that I didn’t share their misplaced ideology.
Jews are in it together. Persecuted for being capitalists, persecuted for being socialist, persecuted for killing Christ, persecuted for withstanding Islam, even Jews who are ‘too Jewish’ are persecuted by Jews who are assimilationists. A Jew either reminds himself that he’s Jewish by acting like a Jew, or non-Jews will do the reminding for him.
