They seem so desperate. I don’t know what’s in this bill. But I do understand a lot of the Blue States have already passed legislation in their state houses requiring their presidential electors to cast their electoral votes for whichever presidential candidate wins the “popular vote”. I’m no lawyer or constitutional scholar, but this doesn’t seem legal to me. It effectively takes the individual electors and has them override the voters in the state themselves.

Say Pennsylvania goes for Trump (which it did). If they had this “law”, then the electoral votes would have to go to the other candidate. It’s in effect saying “Voters of Pennsylvania are irrelevant. Because the more populous states of CA and NY went for the democrat, we have to give our votes to them, even though their candidate lost this state. I’m at a loss how they can even pass such legislation in a state and make that work legally or constitutionally.

Hopefully someone will file lawsuits to stop this blatant disregard for the Constitution by these states who are passing such a law.

The Constitution gives the states total control over how electors are appointed. They could have lotteries should they wish.
