Great Home Page...especially:
What all of this recent information adds up to is that the “global warmers” have argued the exact opposite of the truth. Any effect of greenhouse gases would be a net cooling effect instead of a warming effect.
This is for the simple reason that more heat is reflected away or absorbed and kept from coming to the earth, than the amount of heat that is kept in the vicinity of the earth by these elements, after some heat reaches the earth. This science agrees with common sense.

This reflective ability of CO2 is a fun argument I often make.

And what debt to society do engineers owe that others don’t that makes them the reasonable target of indentured servitude?

Unlike one other profession I know engineers mostly pay for all their schooling and none of their programs are heavily subsidized by contributions from society like say, medicine?

SCOTUS ruled that CO2 was a pollutant in 2007(Massachusetts V EPA) and told EPA to determine the risk or danger CO2 posed to the nation, and if needed EPA could regulate CO2 with the Clean Air Act.

EPA arrived at their endangerment finding on CO2 which SCOTUS approved, and based on that endangerment finding Obama began the regulation of CO2 in two steps.

The first step was regarding new permits or expansions of old permits and Obama's EPA issued those regs in 2010. He was sued and eventually SCOTUS ruled for Obama in 2014.

In 2014 Obama's EPA issued their rule on regulating CO2 in existing permits and that would be called the Clean Power Plan. Obama was sued and the plaintiffs were able to get the court to issue an injunction preventing Obama from implementing those regs until the court ruled.

So the case against the Clean Power Plan was heard by the DC Court of Appeals in 2016. After Trump entered office in 2017, Trump asked the DC Court to delay their findings because he was going to revisit the issue and they agreed.

Trump has delayed, delayed, and delayed and the court has been writing him threatening letters.

Trump can't undo the SCOTUS decision in 2007, and Trump decided it was not a good idea to challenge the endangerment findings. So Trump has to acknowledge that CO2 is a danger to the nation and needs to be regulated but he has to convince the court that Obama's regulations were more than what was needed and the relaxed regulations that he(Trump) is proposing are adequate.

It'll be settled in court.

Threat based on what? Computer models that have been proven wrong over and over again? Threat based on opinion? What danger was it determined to be and what was the science based on? Actual facts? Nope- assumptions based on faulty computer models- hardly a scientific conclusion- There ism ore scientific evidence proving CO2 is not a pollutant, but a needed fuel for plants green earth etc-

Speaking of water...The huge storms in the last week have caused boulders to come crashing down in ZION NATIONAL PARK — The Zion-Mt. Carmel Highway that connects state Route 9 between Springdale and Mt. Carmel Junction is closed due to falling rock debris. The highway is closed from Canyon Junction to the east tunnel entrance after rock and debris were sent falling along the highway, according to a tweet released by park officials Saturday evening. The road will remain closed until further notice after an assessment Sunday morning found that a retaining wall failed, resulting in 8 feet of severely undercut road east of the first switchback. Alternate east and west routes are available via state Route 59 from Hurricane to Fredonia, Arizona, and state Route 14 from Cedar City to Long Valley Junction and Highway 89. If you're planning a visit to come and see us you'll have to go by following that route.

Thank you, Ben, good summary of why we are in this absurd situation.
And once again, we can thank Dumbo Ears for making the mess that we all have to live with.

I read somewhere that ALL of us can count on dying; from something; somewhere; someday.

And far too many of us have not made plans for what happens after that.

They gotta get the POWER to do that from something; but do not tell THEM that!!!

To: I got the rope

I had a professor (mineral exploration) that said that the next big war will be over oil - but the next, even bigger war will be over water. (This was back in the early 80’s).

His comments of course were to promote exploration and developing those resources in an attempt to prevent war.

If the cycle of mile-thick ice over Chicago continues, it will be upon us in awhile. All that moisture stuck in the ice will make the rest of the earth VERY dry. And hungry too. I wonder if anyone has done a sci-fy book or movie on that?

Sort of like water-world - but the opposite. I would imagine small domed cities - or at least large domed “gardens” to keep the moisture in for crops. Wars in wetter, warmer parts of the world. Could be an interesting contrast. Fighting and conflict for large amounts of resources and people in good areas, or live in the dry areas alone or in small groups and try to eke out a living.

I guess most “end of the world” type movies already have that element in them.

I think I’ve matched the rocks at the wash out HERE.

https://www.google.com/maps/@37.21533,-112.96747,74m/data=!3m1!1e3

Zoom in and look at rocks below the letter “Z” on the highway.

I’m still looking for the rockfall...

[[Trump can’t undo the SCOTUS decision in 2007, and Trump decided it was not a good idea to challenge the endangerment findings.]]

Which is a sad state of affairs, because as I’ve mentioned there is ample enough evidence to prove CO2 is not causing climate change, and the 2007 ruling is based on the lie that CO2 is causing change-

[[So Trump has to acknowledge that CO2 is a danger to the nation and needs to be regulated]]

Again, a sad state of affairs- We had rising CO2 for 20 years, and yet had zero warming- again, evidence proving that CO2 was not driving climate change- and we’re about to enter into a colling period now that the sun has gone into a phase where the solar storms are not as prevalent as before- But now that the court has ruled CO2 ‘is a danger’ to climate- it will never be reversed because the agenda will be proven wrong if it is- and liberals and GOP can’t have that because it will mean a massive loss of funds in the form of carbon taxes-

[[It’ll be settled in court.]]

The lie is law now- what will be settled in court is like you say, how much of the lie the court allows to regulate what we pay to ‘fix’ the problem that isn’t a problem

Hey Ben,

Our gov here in Idaho, Brad Little, is an idiot...he is just a carryover from the last A-Hole, except this one has a horse and managed to convince all the Ag-types he was a real guy. An absolute incompetent phony is our Brad Little.

We had a chance to elect Raul Labrador as gov, but the state Republican party machine would not have it.
