I don’t take him at his word, and I don’t care about his feelings.

At least President Trump had the balls to ask him about Otto. Obama left him there without doing anything.

This doesn’t matter a damn bit. The real problem is North Korea has and always will say to hell with what America wants. We have lost denuking these simple minded jackasses. China is more of a threat to us than NK Only wiping NK out of existence will solve he problem.

Trump is being diplomatic. If he’d blamed Fat Boy, he’d have been criticized.

The Left treat Trump with “Damned if you do, damned if you don’t”. No matter what he does, he is criticized.

“take him at his word” my take on that is Trump is tentatively accepting what he said, which is different from what the headline suggests.

He is negotiating. He has also threatened to blow Kim to kingdom come. He is offering death or a chance to come in from the cold. Kim understands what he is doing and saying.

You don't always say exactly what's on your mind. You save it.

******

Tom Hagen: When I meet with Tattaglia's men, should I insist all their drug middlemen have clean records?

Don Corleone: Mention it, don't insist. But Barzini will know that without being told.

Tom Hagen: You mean Tattaglia...

Don Corleone: Tattaglia is a pimp. He never could have outfought Santino. But I didn't know until this day that it was Barzini all along.

We don’t know what happened. It’s very likely that Kim didn’t know anything about that guy until he got into the news. We sure have a lot of “experts” who talk about North Korea like they are comic book villains.

Maybe they are. But, we don’t KNOW what happened to Otto.

I believe what Trump said was right. I believe Kim is treading on thin ice. Remember on the day Kim took over many Generals were oppose to him because he was immature and did not have the balls like his brutal daddy or grandfather. Do yo think because his daddy kicked the bucket that his daddy men were going to resign from the military?......NO! They are still there. Kim know they would love to over throw him but they can’t because a new generation of soldiers are on his side.

As for Otto I believe he was taken away by soldiers who were ordered by Kim’s dad men. I believe he did not know until the last.

I believe Kim is not like his brutal father nor grandfather. I guess we shall see. I suspect Trump also has the same ideal like me.

Title is fundamentally wrong. The DonaldTM did not say Kim wasn't to blame. He said he took Kim at his word that he was unaware. BIG difference and quite diplomatic when dealing with a tyrant.

I believe Kim Jong-un knew he had an American prisoner. I don’t think Americans who are held in noncombat times are normally brutalized. It’s possible that a rogue guard or even a prisoner beat Warmbier to unconsciousness, and Kim later had that person killed. Who knows. It was a horrific tragedy. But at this point, I think Trump is trying to maintain the fragile possibility for future nuclear disarmament and has to weigh his words carefully for the greater good.

Trump is right to do this. Take Kim at his word, just for public consumption. Heck, it’s possible Kim didn’t actually know about Warmbier. But that one item of trust might help Kim to decide to embrace American basketball and economics and give up nukes. A good trade.

well let’s see if Kim orders some public executions when he gets back to his s...hole country.

People need to understand that when the President is getting a nuclear adversary to disarm, one does not want to come down like a ton of bricks on touchy subjects that may derail progress. Get the disarming done and then come down like a ton of bricks. The point is not to get Kim to commit harikari over one incident, the point is to stop Kim from committing harikari on the world.

Read the story. What happened to this young man is beyond horrific. And no one has taken responsibility.
