Dilantin disables one’s will power. Roberts will go along with wheover puts the greatest pressure on him. The Obamacare decision showed that. He had already made a logical and Constitutionally sound decision based on the law and the Constitution and the pressure was applied after that which is why the great convolution in his final declaration- pounding a square peg in a triangular hole.
Still demands death for children in nine months.

Why bother with the headline, “Chief Justice John Roberts sides with liberals”? It’s not like this is uncharacteristic of him.
He’s trying to be a centrist, so that’s fine. He’s giving the other side what they want on these insignificant cases then will back our side on the important ones?

Why would a convicted murderer get 20+ years of appeal and a live borne baby get killed minutes after breathing its first air?
Of course he does, because John Roberts is an utter disgrace to the bench.
What is the specific (argued) constitutional principle that allows one to be sentenced to life in prison (or remain in prison for life) but not be sentenced to death (or put to death if already sentenced)?
There was a Star Trek 2G episode about a killer who had a mind wipe. He was being hunted by the society he had no memory of damaging. Don’t remember for sure how it ended, but I think he had some kind of sacrificial death.
To an alarming degree republican SCOTUS appointees have a history of going off the rails once appointed.
Not all of course, but enough that I'v e lost track of how many.
And enough to have made a big difference in the balance of the court.
And as Roberts demonstrates, the trend continues. .
On the other hand, democrat appointees have a solid history of becoming even more liberal and more intransigent once seated.
Are there identifiable reasons for this disparity or is it the luck of the draw?
