(CNN)President Donald Trump confirmed that a massive 4th of July gathering he suggested earlier this month will happen, saying that it will be "one of the biggest gatherings in the history of Washington, D.C."
"HOLD THE DATE! We will be having one of the biggest gatherings in the history of Washington, D.C., on July 4th. It will be called 'A Salute To America' and will be held at the Lincoln Memorial. Major fireworks display, entertainment and an address by your favorite President, me!" Trump tweeted Sunday. A major 4th of July parade already takes place in the nation's capital each year. The parade, called America's National Independence Day Parade, goes through the heart of downtown Washington and consists "of invited bands, fife and drum corps, floats, military and specialty units, giant balloons, equestrian, drill teams, VIP's, national dignitaries and celebrity participants," according to the parade's website

I have one small request....Can we skip Lee Greenwood? Ill be first to stand and put my heart into the Star Spangled Banner, the Pledge of Alliegance, God Bless America but in no way will I listen to that schlockey annoying song. It ruins everything. (Flame away-I despise that song with a passion down to the core of my soul and refuse to acknowledge it. Its patriotism for drunken kareaoke people )

The children in my Fourth Grade classes loved to belt out “I’m Proud to Be An American”, which was much better than the anti-American garbage they would be exposed to later in high school and college.

If it’s anything like the celebration the night before the inauguration, it will be stupendous. That was one great evening. There’s nothing wrong with the ones held on Memorial Day either EXCEPT for some of the performers I have to tune out. I think last year everyone got drenched.
I don’t agree with you about Lee Greenwood but that’s ok. I look forward to seeing/hearing him sing his song. Better than anything by Springsteen IMO.
Lots of representation from the military would be great, along with bikes, horses, military equipment and a sea of MAGA hats. The left would go bat crap crazy. Well, maybe the horses would be an issue, what with horse droppings and noise and all.

I dont feel it should reach a level where people stand for it in place of the Star Spangled Banner. Im seeing more July 4th events where they use that song and not the SSB. I refuse to sing it, salute it or stand for it.
