Charge with a felony. Later have him plead no contest to a misdemeanor - judge withholds sentencing until he completes community service at some bath house.

Then his book tour, interviews, and possibly a political career.

For him there is still the problem of the “threatening letter”. That is a felony at the federal level which is looking more and more like he had a hand in. Easy way for the locals to reduce their charge and “bump it upstairs” staying out of political bullshit in this particular case. Think those investigators wanted to be in the middle of this bullshit?
