We Won't Allow a Color Revolution in Venezuela, Moscow Says
The Moscow Times ^ | Feb 15, 2019

Russia’s position on Venezuela is to prevent American-backed regime change, the country’s Foreign Ministry has announced, amid a jostle for power among rival political factions in the crisis-struck Latin American country.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has accused the United States of backing a coup in his country after Washington recognized opposition leader Juan Guaido as president. Moscow and Beijing have continued to express support for Maduro, who retains control over key state institutions including the military.

“Our goal is to prevent another color – or black and white – [revolution] tailor-made by the Americans,” Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov was cited as saying by the RBC news website Thursday.

Let Russia have them. They voted for it anyway.

If this is true, that’s too bad. It means the Venezuelan people will have to kill all the Russians, Cubans, and Iranians instead of a peaceful transition to normalcy.

That is one possibility. Another is to collectively walk up north.

I agree. If you want to be socialist, be socialist. Just don’t ask for aid, or asylum from the U.S.

I don’t think Panama is passable by land.

Sure it is. There are roads that cross. Avenida 4 de Julio in Panama City is one. The Centennial Bridge on the Via Puente Centenario near Paraiso is another.

Russia ... protecting the colossal failure that they've nurtured along in Venezuela.

Here's your sign, Pooty!

The only reason they are protective is that certain groups are persuading Guiado to default on Venezuela’s debt it owes to Russian companies and to declare debt ‘criminal debt slavery’.

That is something Ukraine did on near interest-free Russian credit before getting ‘non-slavish’ IMF credit which now costs them half of their national budget in interests and growing.

For some reason these US-based groups aren’t that biased towards Chinese credit though.

Chavez’s reelection was tainted by fraud. In other words, he cheated.

We let him have Georgia. We let him have Crimea. We let him have Syria. Not Venezuela. No way in hell. We don’t let him have jack s$&t over here for the same reasons we sat at home for Georgia and Crimea. They have 0 chance on this side of the globe. We need to keep it that way.

Putin can’t stop it. Venezuelan populace plus Trump makes a majority. They need to pray, and march on the palace. Don’t stop until Maduro boards the chopper.

This is a fight the Russians had best avoid. We have a stake in this because Maduro will cause trouble that will eventually reach our doorstep unless he is deposed.

Putin is more likely to listen if Trump disowns Pompeo’s attempts to make trouble for the Russians in Ukraine, which is in THEIR back yard.

Carter certified the election, sight-unseen, while accusing Bush of stealing his election. Standing in Caracas. He wasn’t allowed into election headquarters, but fifteen minutes after they closed the polls he was in front of a TV camera swearing it was honest.

Carter has some stuff to answer for when he meets his Maker.

Panama canal is passable. However the Darien Gap to the south is not survivable for 99% of people.

People who were extremely physically fit and professionally equipped have gone through on foot. However, these days the narcocartels control the jungle and I dont think anyone even attempts it.
