White House indicates Trump to veto disapproval of emergency
Associated Press ^ | February 17, 2019 | Zeke Miller

A top adviser to President Donald Trump indicated Sunday that Trump is prepared to issue the first veto of his term if Congress votes to disapprove of his declaration of a national emergency along the U.S.-Mexico border.

White House senior adviser Stephen Miller told “Fox News Sunday” that “the president is going to protect his national emergency declaration.”

Asked if that meant Trump was ready to veto, Miller added, “He’s going to protect his national emergency declaration, guaranteed.”

Trump declared the emergency Friday in an effort to go around Congress to fund his border wall. It would allow him to move federal dollars earmarked for military construction to the border — but is already facing legal and political challenges. …

The GOP is the Democratic Party. Been that way for over half a century now.

Remember that Goal #15 of the 45 communist goals for the USA was/is “Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States.” By taking both, it is far easier to foment one-party rule.

I guess the Dems in the House could pass such a Resolution, but I suspect Mitch will never let it see the light of day in the Senate.

I believe that if it is passed in the house the senate is obligated to also vote on it.

If only they were doing nothing instead of passing onerous spending bills, funding Planned Parenthood, ad nauseam.

Doesn’t it have to get past a republican majority senate for him to need to veto it?

"Will the Senate pass this? I doubt it. If it does it’s time to cross the Rubicon"

Yes, it would be. It would be time to start over as a country. I wonder if there is enough of a survival instinct among the citizenry to take that step?

By all means, let’s have a vote in the House and Senate.
Expose the RINO’s and RATs for what they are.
Open border pimps.

“Now, had he vetoed the BUDGET, yes, that would have been overridden.“

I don’t think so. Going on record to override a veto on that treasonous POS Bill? Unfortunately we’ll never know.

If it is passed in the House the Senate would be “Obligated” to vote on it??? What Planet are you living on? Do you know how many resolutions and/or bills passed by the House have been Dead on Arrival in the Senate? There is a Graveyard in the Senate of House passed Resolutions and/or Bills.

I suspect he will. The US Senate is the bottom of the beltway sewer and McConnell is only leader because he lets the mavericks roam.

You can tell which Senate dirtbags are going to run again. Rubio runs his mouth all the time underming POTUS. He’ll never face voters again. Rick Scott obviously is going to run again and chooses his words more wisely

Interestingly, Trump said that two caravans had been disrupted and a large caravan was in the process of being disrupted.

That was important news that has had zero coverage

We need a viable labor party. And I don’t mean a union run labor party. Just a party of workers that believe in MAGA and think all immigration should stop for decades while we try to assimilate the ones we have..

We’re pretty close but I am afraid social issues will prevent that. More likely people will just disenage from politics. Which is exactly why Scum like Romney are constantly antagonizing Trump supporters.

Glad to hear that. The latest I heard was that the America-hating, illegal alien “advocates” had one ready to leave Honduras with 50,000 freeloaders in it. Sounds like an “emergency” to me.

The House and Senate can pass a joint resolution withdrawing the Emergency Declaration. In other words they can pass a bill that says there is no emergency. If that bill is passed the President can veto it requiring a 2/3 majority of both houses to override.

veto is what Fox news interviewer and the article author are saying. They are pushing this narrative president will veto, but there is not yet any thing from the house - just their grumbling and trying to figure best way to thwart Trump’s declaration of emergency

I would be very happy if President Trump just wrote a big F.U. across the face of the resolution.

The 1976 National emergency declaration act contained a provision for Congress to override the Presidential declaration with a vote in both houses. Originally it was a simple majority but the Supreme Court ruled in 1983, I believe, that it must be 2/3rds and the override can be vetoed be the President, the same as normal legislation. So this has already been adjudicated to some extent.

The original time frame is important as this was post Vietnam and Watergate so the law was passed by the treasonous (modern day copperhead) Democrats and signed by Carter. Yes the same ones the deserted the battlefield in Vietnam.
