Patrick Caddell, a former Fox News contributor, reportedly died Saturday at age 68. The political pollster died as a result of complications of a stroke, his colleague Professor Kendra Stewart told The New York Times. Caddell was born in South Carolina on May 19, 1950. Yes, RIP Pat. Always liked that guy. Sigh.
Good guy. Spoke honestly first and always.
He never did look too well and that’s putting it nicely.
This makes me so sad.
Far too young! Sad. will be missed.
the last honest Democrat
Was sad to hear this today. He was honest in his views and profoundly sad at where his party moved.

Days after the election, Donald Trump called Pat Caddell from his office in New York to revel in his victory... He wanted me to understand how well he did, Caddell remembers. You win the presidency, you have a right to crow.
He worked for candidates who were outsiders, underdog politicians who upended Beltway thinking by bashing the Beltway. His genius was to figure out how to first attract this alienated vote and then turn it into an antiestablishment campaign,... analyst Bill Schneider once said.
In a 1979 memo, Caddell warned with eerie prescience that if alienation continued in Anrican politics, America could yield to a man on horseback an authoritarian leader whom desperate citizens empower. Now the man on horseback has arrived, and Caddell saddled up to join him.<>
It was in the 1990s Caddell became disillusioned with the Democratic party which, he said, had left behind its populist roots.
Around 2013 he cracked jokes on Red Eye, the former late night show on Fox News, but never went back on. Show was cancelled in 2017 and he started to appear less on the channel.
Shouldve been saddened where his party had come from and denounced it for all the damage it has caused.
