During a press conference in the White House Rose Garden on Friday morning, President Trump pledged to “take care” of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents moments before signing policy into law that strips the agency of deportation powers.
“ICE is abused by the press and by the Democrats,” Trump said. “And by the way, we’re going to be taking care of ICE. Whether we talk about the new bill … we’re going to be taking care of ICE. They wanted to get rid of ICE and the bill is just the opposite of that.”
The bipartisan spending package, however, dismantles ICE agents’ power to deport illegal aliens living in the U.S. who have either relatives or friends of Unaccompanied Alien Children (UACs).
A provision signed off by Trump bans ICE agents from deporting any illegal alien sponsor who takes in a UAC after the child has been trafficked across the U.S.-Mexico border. The spending bill now codifies into law, indefinitely, that federal immigration officials are not allowed to deport not only illegal alien sponsors of UACs, but also any illegal alien living in the household of a UAC or those who claim to be “potential sponsors” of UACs.

I think this is written to sound bad, but is actually a measure put in place "for now" which halts a practice of traffickers pretending to be the parents of abducted children.
Normally under Obama, the child is detained and the adult is deported. But that meant that the trafficker got off without penalty and was sent home, to traffic again. (Did you see the "border rush" photographs that showed a man steering a young child to the fence by gripping her hair and using it to force her?) So under Trump, officials began keeping adults with those they said were their child or in the same detention center or something like that until DNA testing.
At the time I first read about this, test results were often revealing that the "parent" had no blood relation to the child. Under new procedures, the traffickers became more hesitant to get "caught" with a child because they could be detained, tested, and charged with trafficking. Sadly, illegals claiming the child on the US side of the border are often not family either (traffickers) and if deported, they would also "get away" with trafficking without penalty.
I think "indefinitely" here is meant to avoid "having to" release possible traffickers back to Mexico based on a timeline - they could now wait for DNA results if test results are delayed. It's a good rule of thumb that whatever Obama was doing, the US should stop doing it - and this sounds like one of those measures I had been reading about.

When Trump signed multiple wall-less spending bills during his first two years, we were always assured that it was just temporary. Trump would fight ‘em hard and fulfill his central campaign promise the next time. Of course there was never a next time. And as shown by this latest farce, there isn’t ever going ever to be one.
I am a bit surprised, however, that in light of this history someone would actually have the gall to post, in 2019, another serving of this “fight coming later” pathetic nonsense here. (and the all-caps lunatic font made it extra pathetic)
