2008 Obama got ~ 3.3 Million votes in PA... 2012 3.0 and 216 2.9... Guess who where that drop in Dem votes went??? Meanwhile the GOP put up 2.65M in 08, 2.68M in 12... and 3M in 16! Guess where those 200-300k more Trump got came from?

Its not supported by ANY rational evaluation of the numbers. Democratic party has purged the blue dogs, they started in the 90s and marched to the point of insanity now... During that time LOTS of multi generational democrats in the midwest disengaged because they no longer remotely stood for what they believe in.... They didn’t cross the aisle, because, honestly the GOPe never gave them a reason or argument to, so they simply stayed home.... TRUMP gave them a reason too, and they showed up, and as long as he keeps putting America First, and the economy is strong they will not only KEEP showing up. more of those disenfranchised and disengaged will, as the D’s have plowed ever further left.
There is no path to 270 for the Dems in 2020... it does not exist.. short of completely economic collapse, or Trump being viewed by his base as no longer supporting America First.
