The media will ignore approval ratings until they turn south, and if they do, they will use the RCP average rather than this number. Rasmussen is the only pollster who is not playing games.
The professional politicians and pundits will pay attention and they will be concerned by this. This gives Trump leverage and they know it. The new Democrat members of the House have the most to lose and they be the first to go wobbly on Pelosi. Trump will sign yet another continuing resolution and he will have the public approval in hand to move forward on one of many options for getting the wall done in the face of stonewalling by the House.
NOW is the time to declare a state of emergency and build the wall.
Trump, short and sweet, should say:
“Today I am announcing that we will move to secure our southern border thru an emergency declaration.
The American people have been patient long enough. The Democrats and the fake news media would rather do nothing and try to spin it as a problem that would hurt me. Sadly, that is the only consideration for them. How can we attack Trump? There is NO regard for what is best for this country.
The proof? In my first 2 years we have brought greatness back to the US ECONOMY.

Slightly off-topic:
Lately I’ve seen some nice pictures of Trump. He’s not orange and he doesn’t have darkness around his eyes. Makes me wonder where the orangeness and darkness comes from in other pictures of him.
You can probably add 5-10 points to the 52% for silent Trump supporters who will say disapprove just to mess with the polling.
Net negatives at 0%.
The only issue with higher approval numbers is the ability of the media to put forth the narrative that Trump is in decline with voters when the numbers decrease. All about manipulating the undecided and independent voters, while discouraging the voters on the right.
There's that number again. The one thing Mitt Romney was probably right about (back in 2012), is that there are a large number of people who will always vote Democrat. You will never get them to vote for Trump. Never. The best you can hope for is that they stay home. It may not be the 47% Mitt and this poll claim, but it's near that. Trying to win them over is a waste of time. He might be able to win over a couple more percent of the electorate, but 52% is approaching his ceiling.
