What about the existing federal criminal law — where did it go?
Pot was legalized here in WA by a vote of the people - something about state's rights, freedom, liberty, commerce. The feds have more important things to do IMHO.

Senator (talks like) Daffy Duck, so that is his problem.

The Millennials and young people as a whole are all for it, not to mention the baby boomers who grew up in the 1960s. Wyden sees this as a vote getter for the Dems. We are already well on the path to total legalization. It is a matter of when, not if. Sad.

I was in Vegas two weeks ago and stopped in a dispensary to check it out, $65 for 3.5 grams plus the sales tax. I haven’t bought pot on the street in over 30 years but that seems pretty excessive to me. The pot heads I used to know would blow through $100 in a few days. I guess the plan is soak working users and write scripts for medical marijuana and dispense it free to the layabouts via Medicaid.

Adding another legal drug is not the answer. It is just another enervating substance that will further damage the country. What’s next, cocaine?

Recreational marijuana is legal in ten states plus D.C. with 33 states allowing medical use. If the feds wanted to, I suppose swat teams, tanks and maybe some helicopters could be deployed to arrest these thousands of violent offenders but I don’t see it happening.

Sounds like overpriced Las Vegas, but whatever the market will bear I guess. I mean, the seafood buffet at the Rio is $100 per person IIRC.

"I don't understand anything," she said with decision, determined to preserve her incomprehension intact. "Nothing. Least of all," she continued in another tone "why you don't take soma when you have these dreadful ideas of yours. You'd forget all about them. And instead of feeling miserable, you'd be jolly. So jolly," ~ Alex Huxley

He wants a 'Brave New World'. A nice passive and complacent populace. Then totalitarians like AOC can have her way.

"Swallowing half an hour before closing time, that second dose of soma had raised a quite impenetrable wall between the actual universe and their minds."

We don’t need the feds involved. Let the states decide.

Twice? My wife has arthritis and a prescription from her primary for pot. She also has Celebrex, but doctor says only use that on the worst days as it’s much worse for her than pot.
She pays $150 an ounce from a friend who is a boutique small yield grower. And it’s way ‘cleaner’ than the dispensary crud. Because in this case, the grower smokes it too. And he cures it for months instead of an hour in an oven.

It didn’t go anywhere and it’s being enforced against large illegal growers and dealers. They don’t have the time to chase the little ones as there are small pot grows in many closets, gardens and basements these days.

Sorry... worse than alcoholics... ain't buyin' what you're sellin' in regards to legal versus illegal. Hire the right people. Don't give some folks a criminal record because you mis-hired individuaals with no self control.

If one thing we can learn from the coup against Trump is some get off and some get the full force of a twisted law thrown at them. The drug companies make billions getting people addicted but an inner city kid selling the same shit on the side gets prison time - I am personally sick of it.

We need to decriminalize the same way we deregulate. How about we actually defend personal responsibility the way we preach personal responsibility.

If you are serious about drug problems, go after big pharma that purposely legalize what we know is poison.

Hey... the government should always decide ‘cause they know best... not just which drugs to legalize... how about energy, social justice and climate.

And I live there.

That's more than Wyden can claim.

...it does contribute to lung cancer.

No, cannabis kills cancer, and many other diseases. Lab studies in recent years have proved that beyond doubt.

Research is revealing that the cannabis plant has great medicinal value across a broad range of human needs. Unfortunately, it's been so badly stigmatized by our government, that most basic research has been stymied for nearly a century.

Fortunately, that is changing, as more and more honest information about cannabis comes to light.
