This is probably not what they had in mind with the “bootstrapping your way out of poverty” idea, although I suppose that it demonstrates some kind of youthful entrepreneurship .
This story does not surprise me in the least. Close to forty years ago, a friend from Eastern Ontario moved briefly to Nashville to take a course in lumber grading. He went down there not having a dislike of any race. Six months later, he came back with, shall we say, a certain ‘appreciation’ of African-American ghetto culture. It was not a ‘positive’ appreciation, in any way, shape or form.
