Iron Dome missiles cost $45,000 each. They have been used to shoot down $1500 missiles and $600 drones. The cost differential means any adversary could easily deplete your supply.
I’m not saying it isn’t wonderful to be able to shoot down just about anything, just that you need to be selective about what you shoot.

Israeli’s place the cost of their citizens lives way higher than a thousand of those missiles I’d say.
And when you’re surrounded by enemies who want you gone, it doesn’t matter what the price tag is for securing your society.

Was wondering this as well. Didn’t we knock down SCUDs in the Gulf War?

Its actually more expensive to shoot missiles because theyre expensive to acquire and once fired your armory is depleted.
Anti-missile systems are becoming more accurate and effective and the cost advantage is increasingly on the defenders side.
The US Army made a good call buying the Iron Dome system.

Iron Dome tracks the incoming ordinance and ignores the one that will not hit friendly targets. It only shots down what will hit .

Depends on your adversary. For 3rd world applications, those $1500 missiles/$600 drones likely cost 10x as much to acquire.
