"Build out highspeed rail at a scale where air travel stops becoming necessary."
Ok, I admit I'm not an expert on high speed rail, but what energy propels high speed rail? I don't think it's wind or solar. There aren't enough damns to generate the electricity we need for our energy consumption so I'm assuming that high speed rail runs on fossil fuels. So what's her answer to that?

Green energy of course.
Solar-powered batteries and Unicorn Farts.

Oh build the track 1000 feet high in the USA then it will be coasting downhill all the way to the UK.

I hate to say it, but Ocasio-Cortez is correct here. Train sail technology already exists. We just have to summon up enough courage to implement it.

I am not defending high-speed rails however, most high-speed rails are done through magnetism which requires some energy but not in the amount you are thinking. They are just too dang expensive to build. Japan’s bullet trains are done through sort of magnetism. YEs, it does require fossil fuels to deliver the electricity.
