And in the spirit of following his advice on being bold enough to point out questionable acts in our own ranks, I'll be the one today to call a strike on Schlichter for his comment on Buckley's actions re: the John Birch Society. I believe that time and history have validated most of the JBS positions that Buckley found embarrassing back in the day. It's even possible that had WFB lived through the Obama years that we might have seen the publication of a mea culpa column to that effect. JMO - YMMV...

The Venona papers should have removed any doubt about the USSR's evil intentions, and how effective KGB 'Active Measures' projects were in undermining Western societies. If we had listened to the JBSers back then, we never would have had to endure 8 years of 0bama.
