Those Soul Train themed parties were at every college in the 1980’s Doesn’t mean you are racist.

If it happens to be true about the conservative, no amount of apologizing is accepted. Not even attempting to justify it as a ‘stupid thing young people do’ is accepted — and the self-righteous calls to be fired/withdraw/resign are never-ending.

I would agree with you except for the double standard in play. Were the parties reversed, the dems would already have nuked Richmond from orbit, just to be sure. I don't know how to bring the insanity to an end, but I'm pretty sure that unilateral disarmament isn't the answer.

Henry Louis Gates, Jr., had Michael Strahan, retired NFL player (NY Giants), as one of his two featured people on his “Finding Your Roots” episode yesterday. DNA testing showed that Strahan had a lot of matches with people named Bishop, but Strahan had never heard of any ancestors with that name. A white man named William Bishop turned out to be one of his ancestors (he had several children by one of Strahan’s female ancestors, but that being 1890s Texas, they could not have gotten married even if they had wanted to). At the end Gates showed Strahan a chart showing his ancestry back to Charlemagne via William Bishop.
